I chose Costa Rica as the location to celebrate my 50th year and Villa Buena Onda as the place my 2 girlfriends and I would stay. I booked through Costa Rican Vacations with Theresa Parent. Based on how she serviced me, I had no doubt that all would go fine. I travel a lot and have been many places. This trip, by far, was the best. We arrived on April 10, 2012 and had 6 days of bliss. There is nothing I can say about the Villa or the landscape other than it was God-inspired. As in the beginning, God thought it and it was created. Seriously. Every person attached to the Villa made sure we had everything we needed and wanted. Dayana, the house manager/concierge ensured that our vacation ran smoothly. She was always within earshot, yet gave us privacy to relax and enjoy our time. She informed us of our meals in advance to make sure they would be to our liking. Modifications were no problem for her or the staff. "No worries" and "Pura Vida" were the motto and mantra of the trip. She never hesitated to offer herself to us – explaining the culture, showing us around and even helping us with our technology. Gabriel, our chef, prepared food which was healthy and accommodated our varied requests. He even made a tres leches cake to celebrate my birthday. Cristian served as our personal attendant; he anticipated our every need. Even before we could call his name, he would appear and ask what (if anything) we needed. It was scary how in tune he was with us. Migdalia, our morning cook, gave us fresh fruit as soon as we awakened and then made our breakfast after everyone had gotten up. She made the best omelet I've ever tasted (and I can cook!). Having seconds was no problem. Ever. Dayana, realizing that we brought our American appetites along with us, asked if we wanted to have meals served family style. I never went hungry or thirsty. We were given as much as we wanted, whenever we wanted. The kitchen was never closed or locked during our stay. Rosa kept the villa immaculate! She even did our laundry. She cleaned in the mornings while we slept and we were never disturbed. And, last but not least, Edino served as groundskeeper/security. He was so quiet we didn't even know he was there until he introduced himself to us on the second evening. And, I believe the only reason he did was because we kept asking Dayana when and what time he started. She explained that he is very quiet (again, so as not to disturb us) and we aren't supposed to hear him. It was later that night that he came and introduced himself. After that, we literally had to look for him because he was so quiet; yet, he protected the Villa, cleaned the pool and manicured the grounds – all at night, long after we had retired inside the house. How Dayana and the rest of the staff could have gotten a negative review is beyond my comprehension. We were pampered, treated royally and got the rest we desperately needed. I am already planning my next visit. Everyone should experience the Pura Vida lifestyle at VBO with Dayana and the others.

We spent a long weekend at Villa Buena Onda and they did not miss a beat from the moment we made our first inquiry. The service from pre-arrival booking process to the moment we were dropped off at the airport for our departure was professional, accurate and efficient.

I am confused by below review because Dayana and the entire staff could not have been more knowledgable and helpful. They anticipated all of our needs and the execution was flawless.

Rooms were extremely clean and spacious. View was amazing. Food was plentiful and delicious. Staff was fun, friendly and attentive. Pool, swim-up bar and volleyball court provided hours of on property entertainment. The excursions were all fun and professional.

This is the perfect location for any group of 15-20 looking to have a great balance of relaxation and adventure.

Amazing time. Great place. Great staff/service. Great food. Very clean and comfortable (all rooms had full bathroom and room/bathroom cleaned everyday and linens towels changed as well). Close by to all the great excursions and the airport. The "house-mom," Dayana, was the best (from start to finish). Perfect combination of chill/relaxation and partying. Highly recommended.

We just returned from a week (the week between christmas and new years) at villa buena onda, with our ten children/spouses and 10 grandchildren ranging in age from 9 months to 19 years old.

we read great reviews of this house on trip advisor and were beyond excited anticipating our vacation.  before we arrived, we tried contacting dayana, the home's manager/concierge to arrange excursions, secure a babysitter for our 1 year old and get general answers to some questions.  we did not heard back from dayana and had to rely on the rental company for some  basic answers, i.e., did the house have cribs and high chairs for our youngest two?  we were unable to book excursions in advance of our stay.  however we did book one in advance with  a separate driver/tour guide, manuel durante, whom we found on trip advisor.  he was amazing, and we would definitely recommend you contact him to arrange excursions!

from the moment we arrived we felt unwelcome by dayana. she seemed unprepared for us and in fact disappeared that first day for several hours as did a staff member.  we were told that there were some personal things that they needed to attend to; and the second day dayana left for over five hours.  when we arrived we asked about a babysitter and we were told  she would have one for the rest of the week but not that day, so she would watch the baby for two hours while we went to the local beach.  imagine our dismay when we returned to the house and found the baby in the hands of someone we never met, who did not speak a word of english, and dayana was nowhere in site.  in fact, she did not return until late afternoon/early evening.  suffice it to say, we did not use any babysitters again.

the week went on like this.  we were not informed properly about the excursions she took us on.  in fact, on a one  and a half hour excursion, she ordered a bus that was too small.  we were all crowded (three people in seats for two)  and there was no room for a car seat for the baby.  dayana blamed this situation on us, stating we did not plan the excursion far enough in advance.  we reminded her that we never heard from her prior to our stay.  one day  she was to organize a hike for four of our young adult children/grandchildren.  she totally misrepresented this tour and instead sent  them on an hour stroll.

dayana seemed disengaged and preoccupied the entire week.  anything that went wrong, she blamed on us.  Towards the end of our stay she became downright nasty to all of us.  there were two occasions during lunch that she told our son in law and 9 year old grandson that her kitchen was closed when they requested something more/different to eat.  another time we were served quesadillas for lunch with nothing else and when  our daughter and 10 year old granddaughter saw that there were rice and beans in the kitchen and asked for some, they were told that that was just for the kitchen staff.  after that we were literally locked out of the kitchen.

i could go on and on.  if anyone wants more details, i will be happy to provide them.  i will sum this up by saying, while the villa, the pool, the views and the rest of the staff were all great, i cannot recommend this villa until the manager (dayana) is no longer there.

It was a magical 8 days...the Villa is stunning, the CR people are wonderful friendly folks, the countryside is beautiful..but the jewel is the Villa and its staff. The concierge Dayanna is an amazing hostess and is one of the most organized person i have ever met...she has it all together for sure! The Chef Gabreial is 4 to 5 star, the bartender Christian is a master with the blender and the rest of the staff keep the Villa spotless. I could go on and on but suffice it to say I have travelled the world and have never had as enjoyable and stress free vacation as this one

Room Tip: there are 7 private bedrooms all with private bath and central air with individual rooms controls...you can not go wrong
