“Excellent Seafood”
Reviewed 4 July 2013

We enjoyed several meals here very much, and as a professional chef, I tend to be a bit more critical than most. From sushi to seared tuna with pineapple chili sauce, everything was executed and presented perfectly. Not overly expensive, either (one night the seared tuna was on special for only $10). We also had sea bass, calamari and seafood soup; it was all wonderful, in a pleasant atmosphere.
I would easily recommend this place for a great meal in Coco beach.

“Good place”

Papagayo is pretty good-love the garlic butter seafood platter. Not too expensive but not cheap either. Very friendly staff. Went there quite a few times.

“Really good fresh fish”
Reviewed 5 May 2013

We decided to eat here after seeing the menu outside and striking up a conversation with the host (or possibly manager), who is originally from NJ/ PA. The restaurant is large with a lot of seating. They easily had 10 kinds of fresh fish to choose from along with even more sauces/ cooking methods. My friend had tilapia with a pesto sauce while I chose grouper in a Cajun sauce. Both came with salad and garlic bread. The portions were hearty and the fish was really tasty, although mine could have used a little more sauce. The service was decent; we didn't have to wait long for any of the food or to find the waiter when we needed something. I ordered coffee after the meal, and it was delicious; I think it was made with sweetened condensed milk. It was pricey for Coco but this is still not pricey compared to home: we had the 2 entrees with salad & bread, 2 glasses of wine, and a coffee and paid $20 each. This is one of the restaurants I would visit again if I ever go back to Coco.

“A main staple...”
Reviewed 3 March 2013

Everyone knows Papagayo and it is always consistently good. We first tried it 3 yrs ago when we were at the Riu and came to Coco to check things out and now that we've stayed in Coco the last 2 years, Papagayo is place we visit often. Their fish selections are great and they prepare them many different ways.
You can count on your dinner being good.
We even tried their sushi this time, had a Dragon roll -- it was tasty but had more rice than anything else. But it was good.
The other night we tried their shrimp/corn chowder (prepared with a medium spice) and wow - it was spicy but delicious at the same time.

“Not Happy campers”
Reviewed 30 January 2013

We chose this restaurant for our last dinner while on vacation in Costa Rica. Overpriced wine, average food and poor service added up to a disappointing experience. This restaurant was recommended to us and others have found it to be ok for seafood. We would not return!
