We ate at Luna Azul while visiting the Nosara area of Costa Rica. For breakfast we were served a beautifully prepared plate of fresh fruit. The most amazing taste from the local supplier. The coffee - heaven. I appreciated the very attentive service and all the great selections. Our choices were served in short order and were attractively plated and tasty. I even came to enjoy the local tradition of eating rice and bean mixture with my eggs!

Lee was a wonderful hostest and her home was beautiful in a beautiful setting. My daughter and I got the opportuntiy to see monkey's in the backyard. The breakfast we received was wonderful. Lee provide us with helpful suggestions. Her home is only a few block away from a beautiful beach and the downtown. We were even able to drink the water. Thanks Lee! Hope we have the opportunity to see you again.

I flew in to Costa Rica solo and wasn't really sure where to stay. I was looking for a closer look at local Costa Rican lifestyle in a safe, clean, affordable and friendly environment. I had made some last minute reservations at La Luna Azul; it turned out to be the perfect choice. The hostess was very friendly and helpful...which was valuable to me as a single traveler in a foreign country. She prepared incredible breakfasts and supplied ideal information about where to go and what to do. The location is great...near the beach, shops, and restaurants...not too far from the LIR airport. All around fantastic B & B with great service...would definitely return again and again.

Stayed 3 nights at la Luna Azul and can only recommend it! The owner Leigh was amazing, always ready to help out with different arrangements, and a great host to have a chat with!
The B&B itself is located in the residential area of Playa del Coco which came as a relief especially around the end of the year celebrations! Great breakfast too & a lovely garden!

Our stay at La Luna Azul was for 7 nights in Feb 2008. Our hosts Lauren & Lee were excellent. The accomodations were very cozy and clean. The yard is beautifully landscaped with mango trees and much foliage. Lee and Lauren's hospitality made us feel at home very quickly. They helped us make tour arrangements and took us to some of the area beaches. One that included a beautiful waterfall. Coco Beach was just a short 3 minute walk from the B & B. Each day started with a wonderful breakfast ,on the ranch (patio), prepared by Lauren or Lee including homemade mango syrup and jam . We would usually relax on the rancho complete with hammock, patio furniture and hammock chair, at the end of the day also. Downtown was about a 20 minute walk or a $2.00 taxi fare. We dined at the local restaurants in the evening . The seafood was excellent. We took in a sunset sail and a trip to the Rincon which included a zip line-canopy tour and a mud bath. The tour guides were polite and very helpful as were all the local Costa Ricans. Temperatures were hot during the day and comfortable in the evenings, ranging from daytime temps of 90degrees to 70's at night. I would recommend the room with air conditioning to cool down during the day. Overall our stay at La Luna Azul was great and I would recommend it for a relaxing and enjoyable way to experience Costa Rica.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at La Luna Azul. We were greeted every morning with fresh coffee and amazing breakfasts (eggs benedict, mango french toast, bacon and red pepper soufflés) which we enjoyed on the patio in the most beautiful garden. La Luna Azul felt like a home away from home. It was so comfortable as well as private. In addition to the garden, which has hammocks under the shade, there is a screened-in porch with fans and couches which was great for reading while trying to beat the heat (that being said, getting the air conditioned room was a great investment). The beach is only a three minute walk away from here.
Lee and Lauren were exceptionally helpful in arranging a snorkeling trip for us and in pointing us to the best restaurants and bars, etc. My Spanish is pretty terrible, so it was really nice having a sort of ambassador to Coco.
The other places to stay in that I saw were either in the middle of town, which gets pretty rambunctious at night or were a long way out from the beach. La Luna Azul is close to the center of town while still being outside of it, so it was very peaceful there. It is the only place I'll stay when I return to Coco.

  • Liked — Being so well taken care of there made it an amazing trip.

I can only recommend this so caring way you had to
welcome us at your B& B, starting with Lauren to pick us at the
aeroport. It makes it so much easier. And all that creativity in your
breakfasts ! I have never seen that before. It was so good we were
grateful for it every morning. Our time was their time. And the
beautiful garden available for us...And the house so cute too ! Soon we

felt it was our home for the time there. What I liked fromB & B is the
very personal touch of those who live in their environment and the
pleasure to share it. They were friendly and interested in our
experiences of life. Leigh and Lauren were both very caring and
available for our little needs and tried the best to facilitate us.
Thank you very much .
