“Lots to like, food is average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

This is a nice place to go for dinner - once - and if you go during happy hour (5-7). We liked the mango pina colada. The view is lovely and the staff is very nice. Elegant plating. My husband enjoyed the guava tenderloin (best thing we had there) and my sea bass was good, I liked the grilled hearts of palm and potato that came with it.

We might have given this place four stars if that was our only meal, but we ate here for two more dinners and it went a bit downhill and the high prices started to get to us. If you go here, don't get the ribs - very dry. Also, the desserts are way overpriced, small and not so good. Panna cotta was what I'd call rubbery texture, not what I'm used to, and the brownie is by no means a brownie, sort of a bad chocolate cake perhaps.

It was a little hot for most of our meals. The last night we came though the doors were closed and the air conditioning on - that was a nice change and relief from the heat.

I wouldn't say don't go here. You can enjoy a nice meal and beautiful view, but don't have high expectations for the food.

“Hillside Hideaway”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Not easy to find but worth it if you do. Great views of the entire beach and sunset (depending on the time of year). Happy Hour drinks and very nice menu. Large deck over looks all of Hermosa. Our guide Herson - herson03@yahoo.com drove us up and then we walked back to Condovac at the other end of the beach after sunset. The manager kindly offered to drive us back to the resort but the walk was fine. To find it look for the last hotel at the left end of the beach, walk along side of their restaurant to the 1st road, turn right and climb the steep curving road to the top. It’s the bright orange building on the hill. Worth looking for!!

“Best Views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014

We loved our experiences there. We visited two times while staying in Playa Hermosa. The best views of Guanacaste county; absolutely exceptional! This is the best mountain top experience you will get while visiting the area. Great drinks, exceptional food and service. The owner personally drove us back to our villa. Exceptional service and breathtaking views!

“Great Meal & Spectacular View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

Our group of 10 visited La Finisterra's restaurant on an extremely windy evening. We sat outside for some cocktails and to enjoy the view (happy hour is an EXCELLENT bargain) and then the staff was kind enough to relocate us into the main dining room for our dinner so that we wouldn't have to worry about our food blowing all the way to Nicaragua.

We had two kids (2YO, 6YO) with us and they brought out their meals with the starters so the kids were happy and occupied. My 6YO ordered the regular menu cheeseburger and it was cooked perfectly and was enormous. He loved it!

Around the table we had the sea bass (rave reviews), some shrimp (well received), steaks (every bite eaten by a VERY picky 13YO), and lobster (probably a favorite). We also had a selection of desserts which were very tasty as well.

The wine served with dinner was very generously portioned--big pours for sure.

We had excellent service and the views/ambiance were wonderful. We'll go back for sure.
