We visited Costa Rica at the end of February and went fishing with Jason twice. While Pedro was around the fishing hut we communicated with him only spiritually. We stayed in Playa Grande and Jason was kind enough to meet us at the river mouth and give us a ride to their centrally located hut. Don't let Jason's unstoned cold demeanor fool you, once he hits the High seas he is one of the greatest fishing guides we have ever been out with. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar this is certainly the best way to fish out of Guanacaste. The number one concern is that you catch fish, Jason adapted to changing conditions by switching lures and heading to different waters as if he was trying to fulfill a personal vendetta against the fish of the pacific. Although the boat is basic, it is incredibly rugged, effective and comfortable.........just like Pedro.
Upon our return all of our fish ( black tuna, red snapper, African pompano, tuna mackerel, and a nearly landed Sailfish) were cleaned and promptly put on ice.
Jason's knowledge of the area and waters were impressive for a transplanted gringo from Florida.
We will call upon this crew again on our next trip to Tamarindo and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to catch fish in Tamarindo.
