“Our 6 stars home away from home”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

My sister and I traveled in Costa Rica for almost 3 weeks. We got to Tamarindo at the last week of our trip with a desire to spoil ourselves a little bit, and found the most perfect place to do that. We chose to stay in "Villa Amarilla" for the cleanliness and the luxurious look of the room. After just one evening it was clear to us the our room, as great as it is, was just the tip of the iceberg, because everything else in this 8 rooms hotel was more than perfect: hamocks, coffee, direct exit to the beach, drinks, the general feel. And on top of all that, Cinde and TJ.
Cinde and TJ, the owners of "Villa Amarilla" are the coolest and most amazing couple and hotel owners one can possibly ask for. Their presence and warm welcome made our 3 nights in the Villa the best nights we have spent throughout the whole trip. THANK YOU!!

my girlfriends and i needed to find a hotel last minute. this was the first hotel we checked out and it was awesome that we did! walking in we where greeted by the owners, super chill down to earth couple. Gave us a welcome shot of our choice and we where sold! we only stayed 2nights, but im going back for another trip this winter and plan to go back to villa amarilla. the location is ideal, in the front is the main strip, in the back tamarindo beach. our room was clean and big, no complaints with that. we stayed mostly in the communal area, and in the morning there was scones, muffins, coffee ect. i would recommend this hotel for friends traveling, solo travelers.

This hotel has a great location, right on the main strip along the beach. Only a 5-10 minute walk to restaurants and bars. The staff are friendly, warm and welcoming. One lowlight about the trip was that we were almost robbed in our room on one of the nights we stayed there. The perpetrator broke into the room through the balcony terrace. Luckily we were awake at the time and managed to scare him off. We were discouraged by the staff from reporting the incident to the police. I HOPE this was an isolated, rare incident as our time in this town (besides the incident) was pretty safe and friendly. But as any traveller, be cautious of your surroundings at all times - even in your hotel room!

Hi JJles15,
We are sorry about your experience with someone coming through your balcony door.
That was an isolated incident. But since you have been here we are taking more precautions.
We have had all the locks checked on all the doors of the rooms. We have security lights throughout the garden and lights on the beach to dissuade anyone from being tempted. We do have a lock and the front and back gate. Also our Rottweiler sleeps out on the patio. We pride ourselves in having a secure hotel. We hope that when ever you come back to Tamarindo you will give us another try. We are sure you won't be disappointed.

My friend and I were recommended Hotel Villa Amarilla by a bartender at Nibanna and we couldn't be happier. Extremely clean, well decorated rooms with a complimentary SHOT OF TEQUILA when you check in. Cindy and TJ(the owners) were amazing; they have done a great job with the place. I will not stay anywhere else when I come back to Tamarindo. Staying here is like having your own house on the beach. BEST PLACE TO STAY in Tamarindo.

My friend and I stumbled onto this gem of a b&b after a long journey on a very uncomfortable quad bike. The location is perfect. It's right on the beach and in the heart of Tamarindo. Cindy who owns Hotel Villa Amarilla is very accommodating and lovely, on arrival she gave us each a shot of tequila. The b&b is very comfortable, clean and homely - it's a little slice of paradise. The breakfast is delicious too. I would strongly recommend Hotel Villa Amarilla and would definitely stay again if I return to Tamarindo.

If you travel to Costa Rica, Tamarindo Hotel Villa Amarilla is the place you want to stay. You can't find a better location, you can't find a better staff, and the rooms are clean, comfortable and extreme cozy.

Breakfast is included, and different food is served, such as bagels, muffins, burritos (loved them) croissants, coffee etc.

My boyfriend and I met a lot of nice people there and the atmosphere at Villa Amarilla is very laid back. You can lay your surfboard in the yard, and like we did went for surfing right outside the hotel on the beach.

Jason who is the brother of the one of the owners, was a great or let me say a fantastic host. He made our stay very comfortable, fun and secure.

Have fun
