“Perfect spot”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

Luckily for me I was recommended by this place from a friend. And it did not disappoint, as upon arrival we were greeted with an opening shot of our choice (tequila of course) with Jasmine. The room was very clean and very modern. We were initially only going to say for two days but decided to stay for a third day. The first night, TJ and Cinde made dinner for everyone, about 8 rooms, so it was pretty cool to chill out and meet all the other guests that were staying there as well. An awesome feeling as you are now in presence of people from around the world (Crotia, Switzerland, Denmark, NY, FL). It was fun getting to know everyone, eat, have a few drinks (sorry for your hangover Cinde).

With the beach just a few steps away, the massage table (the ladies did a great job), great surf, liquor store right next door and of course the complete staff of the hotel, it made it very hard to leave. I highly recommend this place if you're stopping in Tamarindo during your travels.

Thanks again to Cinde, TJ and Jasmine for making our experience a good one.

Cheers

The Hotel Villa Amarilla is a place were you can't help feeling very comfortable the moment you enter it. It offers everything that makes your stay pleasant and enjoyable: tastefully-designed, modern and very clean rooms with very comfortable mattresses; special beach towels, a welcome-shot with the owners, the fridge is always filled with fruits where you are free to help yourself etc.

From its lovely garden you can see the beautiful beach which is full of surfers. Cindy and TJ, the owners, are very welcoming and open-hearted people that even invited us to their family/friends - thanksgiving dinner which turned out to be the most delicious dinner of our whole Costa Rica stay. It was so nice to get to know them and their friends and family and we immediately felt to be part of it.

The price which might at first seem a little higher in comparison to hostels is actually not high at all if you share a room with four people (20 dollars each) and consider the delicious breakfast buffet which includes croissants, cakes, muffins, quiche (from a French bakery), fruits and coffee/tea.

We really had a great time and will for sure come back one day! :) Thanks again to Cindy and TJ!

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor (for 4 or 2 people) which was really nice, but I can imagine that t...

Perfect location on the beach. You will be taken care of by owners and feel very welcome. Check out the surf right from the Hotel and be there when needed. Relax in the garden. I was hesitant to write this review as it will be harder to find a vacancy here as more and more people know about it ;). Thank you Cinde and TJ for making us feel at home.

8 rooms on the ocean, safe, clean, free breakfast, family friendly, perfect location, walk out the back gate and swim in the warm Pacific , surf, fish, spearfish or take a sunset walk (or bycycle, very cool), great restaurants or bring your own food, put it in the fridge, cook it in the kitchen. A beautiful yard with comfy places to chill anytime, massage, great concierge (thanks Diego). And Best of all, owners Cinde and TJ will make you feel relaxed and cared for like the family you Always wanted, and that makes you feel close to the other guests , then other friends drop by who are so interesting and friendly . I will always base my Costa Rica adventures at Hotel Villa Amarilla...Nature Air will fly you right into Tamarindo on a roomy Cessna 208 12 seater ...$133 from San Jose , beautiful flight...oh yeah, great room rates.... Get there, have a shot of tequila and soak it all up...love love love.

This Beautiful unpretentious beach front hotel gives that home away from home feeling you 'very only heard about and never experienced. It has all the benefits of a hostel, everyone feels like friends or family. To me it is the perfect oasis in a populated beach community. You can spend the day watching surfers and beach comers pass by all from the comfort of your chair on a lush grassy lawn.
Breakfast and healthy snacks provided. Knowledgable English speakers are always available to give you directions and advice. This is the first place you should come to experience the true Pura Vida that's not lost in the translation. Once you've experienced the adventure you will be hooked on the Costa Rican the lifestyle.
When it comes time to leave, and it always comes too soon, You'll be torn like the Clash! "Should I Stay or should I Go?"

We stayed in Villa Amarilla in October 2013, for 8 nights. We were three sharing a three beds room. Nicest place in Tamarindo. Best location, right on the beach. Best value with very confortable rooms, suitable for any type, family, friends, couples! TJ and Cindy, the owners, are the best. Always there to make your stay easy and relax.
Thanks guys for making this trip unreal! Pura Vida and take it easy!
