“great place”

The setting at this hotel is beautiful. The beach and restaurant overlooking beach is wonderful.
Breakfast is delicious and included in price. Very convenient to walk into town.
Do not book with their travel agent. I ordered and paid for taxi service which never came and they didn't credit me. I am still fighting to get credit back for this and another trip I took. There are many other places in town to book trips and airport service with.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. We were across the street from the beach but we did not mind. The pools were beautiful set amongst the flowers - very lovely and peaceful. When we walked across the street, we always had a security person stop the traffic on the street to let us pass over. The bar is great with a wonderful view of the beach for watching sunsets. There are many lounges and chairs on the lawn that you can take a drink and sit while watching the sunset too. We were on a tour so that night the dinner took too long to be served, even longer I would have expected in other restaurants. When we were able to dine on our own, the service was quick and the food was excellent. The beach is ok - it is not like the Caribbean - white sand, but the water is beautiful and you can surf in front of the hotel. Great area for sports-minded people as you can take hikes, try zip lining, surfing, etc. Great tours to take you and it is not very far. You can fly into Liberia and take a shuttle to the hotel for about $20. Once you are there, you don't need a car if all you want to do is relax and shop for handmade crafts. I did find a lovely shop with beautiful jewelry not far from the hotel, maybe a block and is right before you go to the restaurant, Copacabana - which is an excellent restaurant.

Room Tip: We stayed on the side across from the beach. Lots quieter and we overlooked the pool area. Very qu...

The pros- the place is kept neat as a pin- they work super hard keeping everything nice and neat. Everything is within walking distance, staff is friendly and will help you. The made a birthday cake for my hubby that was delicious. Ocean front rooms have beautiful views of beautiful property. Food is good. A/c is good
Cons: Internet is awful, watch the shower it goes from cold to hot adults can manage but a child could burn themselves - walls are thin - rooms are close to road so you can hear everything. If you go to the beach you cannot take a hotel lounger to the beach- you must pay the local guy $12 a chair which adds up quick. The beach is full of hustlers trying to sell everything from whistles to beer. The hotel cannot offer any protection.

My family and I stayed two nights for the last portion of our Costa Rica visit. The hotel and grounds were well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful.
We stayed in two ocean-front rooms. The view was spectacular. The shower was nice-sized, but the water kept changing temperature on us - warm to scorching hot, to cold, then back to warm. Also, the wi-fi was useless. It kept dropping every 2 minutes..I'm not even kidding. The street noise was a draw-back & made sleep difficult, as the walls were thin.
All in all, if you don't mind not having wi-fi and you bring ear plugs, this place is nice. Average rating because all considered. Oh, and the beach vendors are non-stop. The phrase that made them go away fastest was "No dinero". ;-)

My boyfriend and I stayed here, and got a "free upgrade" to a beachfront room. If you absolutely have to have beachfront, and you don't mind all the inconveniences that come with, then beachfront is great; however, crabs, ants, spiders, and other little insects can be found crawling around the room. Also, if your neighbor two doors down smokes then you can smell it from inside your shower. Lastly, forget trying to nap (or even sleep some nights), due to the people walking back and forth in front of your room--it'll sound like they're on your patio every time. It's a beautiful hotel, in a beautiful location, but the employees are rude & do not smile. Oh, & you can find hotel guests hopping the little stone wall to get to the beach, rather than go through the gate, because of the crowd of locals waiting at the gate to smother you with selling their services--tours, surfing, cigars, bird whistles, cheap jewelry, weed, pottery, etc.

Had a great week vacation with my family here. At first I was alittle apprehensive because the rooms are small and it's not a resort. The staff here is awesome and the restaurant on the property is really good, and 3 of the restaurants next to the hotel are owned by the hotel, so you can charge to room, which is nice and convenient. The guys that teach surf lessons on the beach right in front of the hotel are awesome! Save your money for surf lessons and use these guys, they are great and much less expensive. You can't beat the location of this hotel, it's right in the heart of things and safe.

Wonderful staff, most rooms are very spacious (premium are larger). Right in the heart of Tamarindo, cute surf town. If you have even been to any of the Southern California beach towns you can get an idea. We were with a bunch of girlfriends, felt very safe walking around in the town. This may not be the place for you if you want a fancy all inclusive, looking for culture, affordable, clean property then get here!!!
And the food was moderately price and wonderful.

Room Tip: Sunset Premium are larger and can accommodate family of 5
