Priscila and I were planning to stay at the Luamey for one night as we traveled around the coast but honestly, we enjoyed our time there so much that we ended up booking for a second night. Whenever you're on vacation, your room is your home. Your place to decompress and relax. The Luamey was utterly relaxing throughout our stay and a perfect home to come back to at the end of the day
Luis and Myriam, the owners, were absolutely gracious, warm, and helpful throughout our stay, giving us tips on what to do, where to eat, and even letting me use the phone to make calls since I had lost my cell two days prior. Great, great people. The entire staff is super relaxed and super friendly, smiling whenever you meet.
As for the room, it could not have been more perfect. Stylish and beautiful tropical decor, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and we both slept like babies. Everything is spotless and the maid made the room look brand new all over again on our second day; always a plus in my book.. Fresh flowers on the bed and in the bathroom, handpicked from the lush grounds. The private patios are well-appointed and comfortable; I spent a good bit of time on ours lounging and working.
A small bonus note: the room smelled utterly amazing when we first walked in. Not like cleaning agents at all, but like some very mild (not at all overpowering) fragrance that I can't even possibly describe. Entirely pleasing to the senses.
Took a dip in the pristine pool while we were there and it was super, super relaxing.
The power went out briefly (as it is prone to do throughout Costa Rica) and before I even got off of the patio, Luis was walking over to me with battery powered lights for both inside and outside our room
he location couldn't have been more perfect, either, right in the center of town but off the main thoroughfare a little bit so you aren't overwhelmed with crowds. It's a two-minute walk at most into town with the beach just beyond that.
If any of my friends or family were to ask me where to stay in Tamarindo, I wouldn't hesitate to tell them the Luamey. And for the price, it's entirely worth it.
