First time to Costa Rica. Stayed at Hotel Capitan Suzio. Excellent and friendly staff. Howler monkeys came every night as well as a Porcupine that they adopted. Also played with raccoons that would come into the lobby. They were playful and friendly. The pool was refreshing, the grounds lovely, and rooms were clean and comfortable. Every excusion we went on was very enjoyable. We went on the Arenal Volcano tour. It is a long day, but the trip to this side of Costa Rica is lush and you get to see the countryside. We also did the horseback riding, zip-lining, lunch, and tubing tour. It was great! Sailed on the Hibiscus catamaran where we snorkeled, had lunch and saw whales. On the way back, you get to see a wonderful sunset. It is on the Pacific, so the beach is cool, not cold, and its great if you want to learn how to surf. Hotel Capitan Suzio is a 30 room boutique hotel that gives you a private, yet cozy feeling. During the dry seaon which is December to May, you do need to use bug spray. You also need sunscreen and a good pair of hiking or watershoes.
