Stayed in this hotel last week, serious safety concern! we got robbed inside the compound! worst still when complain to the reception and security, do not show any concern at all!

Beside this, concierge guy is very rude.

I'm a hhonors diamond member as i frequent many hilton property, this is easily the worst! room have bad smell and dirty. It is very old as well.

seriously if u plan to stay here....please consider other hotels

Thank you for your review of your recent stay at the Doubletree Cariari.

I'm very sorry for the unfortunate situation that you experienced at the roadside near the entrance of the hotel. The safety of our guests is a very important issue for us and as a form of prevention, we are dialing with the local Municipality trying to get them to increase the security in this area, we also advise our guests to take a taxi even if they go as near as the Hard Rock Cafe.

We have CCTV cameras in all gardens surrounding the hotel, however with security issues nowadays, even though we take precautions, for us as well as everybody else, is not possible to control what happens outside.

We appreciate that despite of this situation, you gave us the opportunity to welcome you again. Please do not hesitate to contact me should I be of any assistance.

The room itself was nice enough, but after the first day I noticed a funk lingering in the air when returning from business. I believe it was sewer gas coming from the shower. Not sure if it had a trap. Plus, my shower drain was clogged the first day. I was standing in about 4" of water by the time I was finished showering. I told the desk about it, and the problem was satisfactorily address that day. Lastly, the baseboard trim was coming off the wall in several places. One piece was lying there with nails pointing up - could have been stepped on with really dire consequences. At breakfast in the dining area each day. The food was great, as was the service. The staff was very friendly and upbeat.

We stayed here 2 nights 1 before and after our tour of Costa Rica. Its a great location 10 mins from the Airport and 2 mins from the Pan American highway. The Hotel has a resort feel the gardens and pool are delightful an oasis away from the hustle and bustle.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped and a 2nd door leading onto the pool area was a great bonus all staff were friendly and efficient, breakfast plentiful and varied.
Would not hesitate to stay again

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the pool.

Internet, is very slow since I cant speak by any telephone services such as skype, majic jack among others. Please review wireless signal or internet locations. This is not the first time. I move to any location but for some reason the web is not available... Looks that there not strop wireless location.

The open air setup was wonderful. We walked through an open air tropical garden to use the amenities of the hotel. The restaurant by the pool looked out on beautiful plants and was open air. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

We stayed here two different nights...one night when we got into the San Jose airport, and a second night when we were heading home. I booked this place because it was part of Hilton, so I know it would be clean, reasonably priced, and a place to crash with the family until we headed for our final destination. Little did I expect that this place is really, really nice! They have a stunning outdoor pool with a swim-up bar, the rooms are extremely clean and spacious...but best of all...the customer service was first rate, during both stays. This is a staff that truly goes the extra mile. My one criticism of this place is the food. Breakfast is perfectly fine, but when we ordered room service, the food was dreadful. As a rule, I have found Hilton chains to be lacking in this area. But there are many, many places in walking distance right near the hotel. This hotel is also situated in a much nicer area of San Jose, so we felt very safe walking around. We also got a very reasonable price on our room, booking through Hilton $129 a night. I would give this hotel 9 out of 10 starts,,,would have been 10 out of 10 if room service was better. Great job, Double Tree!

The hotel staff was cold and unfriendly with the exception of the guys who greet you at the door. Bar and restaurant service was slow and unattentive. The food was good. Definitely does not project the image in person as it did online. We would not stay there again. We definitely got the feeling that they do not like dealing with US customers. That is the only time in our 2 week trip to Costa Rica that we experienced that feeling.
