“Lovely place to stay”

Set in beautiful gardens with an abundance of wildlife. The rooms are fitted to a high standard in keeping with the property. Everything - rooms, gardens, pool - are clean and kept immaculately. Perhaps most importantly, Marisse and Pierre were wonderful hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our few days here.

The perfect spot to relax, have fun and explore!
First we want to thank Pierre, our friend for showing us around the park! You have a passion and it shows, how fortunate we were that you love to share that passion. We stayed in a room in the main guesthouse, comfortable bed, very clean and lots of room for 2. We loved the pool and gardens. We walked to town a couple of times and enjoyed the views and wildlife. The reggae bar was one of our favorite places to go, a lot of amenities within a short distance. Marise and Pierre are the perfect hosts, anything we needed or questions we had they were there for us. Thank-you for a truly wonderful time and we will be back!

Beatiful place, frendly staff, quiet, clean, comfortable rooms, perfect jungle like garden full with colorful birds! Very good location! 5 m from the Playa Verde, 50 m from the Yoga center and good restaurants in the vicinity! Thanks for the bottle of New Year Champange!

Pierre--Thanks for the highlight of our 10 day trip to Costa Rica. You're an animal (and insect) magnet. Great tour of Cahuita National Park you gave us--thank you so much.

Enjoyed seeing all the monkeys and the vipers. Enjoyed your guesthouse, pool area great for the few rooms you have. We were delighted to spend the couple days at your place. Great food recommendations (breakfast place to the left, seafood/Italian to the right, and Pierre walking us down to Ms. Edith's for some excellent Carribean food).

I highly recommend this guesthouse right across from the beach.

Unbelievable beautiful place with nice big rooms, a lovely pool and a gorgeous garden! We are here for one day now and already saw apes high in the trees, iguanas, hummingbirds and so much more beautiful birds and all just here in the garden!
The owners are very sweet and told us everything about the village, neighbourhood and things to do. We even got a bottle of sparkling wine because it's new years eve in a couple of hours!
The beach is a 10 second walk and the village is also on walking distance. It's also a beautiful walk to Cahuita National Park and The Tree of Life (both REAL beautiful and especially the last one is an absolutely recommondation!)

Upon arriving here we were greeted by Marise (sp) and her two adorable pets. She was so lovely and accomodating. Helping us with our bags and showing us around. She showed us around the grounds and to our room. We travel with our 14 year old son and I am always miserable when I am hot. This place has no air conditioning and I was extremely nervous that I would be very uncomfortable. The night sleep was good and Marise gave me a large fan that kept me cool. Pierre took us on a wonderful walk today through the national park in Cahuita and was incredibly informative about all the animals we saw. I can honestly say that I was totally nervous about staying in a place with no air conditioning and our hosts could not have been more accomodating to us with every thing we needed. I think they are amazing and made my trip here to Cahuita a very memorable one indeed. I would highly reccommend the Playa Negra Guesthouse to anyone looking to experience a beautiful get away that includes a beach town feeling with the wildlife included.

Greg and Michele have left the grounds in the more than capable hands of couple Marie and Pierre to manage. Management sounds too cold and professional for what Marie and Pierre now offer the guests while staying at Playa Negra Guesthouse. They do everything here with a love and passion rarely seen. I thought originally that they were part owners :)
We stayed at the blue cottage and due to the end do the rainy season, ants were loving our shower. I am from Georgia and grew up with pesky ants marching through once a year...no biggie but I do not want them IN my house. Marie was right on the ants and has the situation handled by the time we were back from going to Cahuita National Park.
Pierre guided us one afternoon through Cahuita National Park. This man loves and lives Costa Rica. Hs passion for the people, animals, birds, plants, insects and snakes is not to be underestimated. He knows everyone in town and they know him...it's a blessing.
He was on the way to puerto viejo when we grabbed a ride with him...he dropped us off at the jaguar rescue cemter ( a must see) then suggested the restaurant Bread and Chcolate in town...ahhhhhhh, fresh salad and gazpacho on a hot day. on his way to Limon, he dropped us off at Chocorart which is also a must see. We took a cab home and ate next door at the restaurant eating jerk chicken while listening to great live reggae with the kids.
I can not say enough about this home away from home...just go and experience it for yourself.
P.s.. The pool is fantastic...it's where our son FINALLY learned to swim

Room Tip: We stayed in the blue cottage...the largest of any place we have stayed...and it was lovely to sit o...
