I lived in Costa Rica for many years and have always loved the Atlantic coast of the country. Until Playa Negra Guesthouse I never had any place decent to stay. I couldn't believe the beauty of the grounds and the guest cottages (definitely stay in one of them!). I thought for sure the people on Trip Advisor were exaggerating...they weren't it was amazing! If you stay in a guest house, stop in the town and buy drinks and snacks and wine and whatever else you want to stock the fridge. The kitchen has everything you could want or need - from a blender to a rice cooker to fresh cut flowers; so use it. The bathroom was amazing, one of my favorite rooms. The location is super, you can walk to the center within about 10 mins of an easy walking pace and at night there are two very good restaurants next door to walk to safely. And the price....the price! Just wonderful and I haven't even spoken about the owners who live there and take care of it as if it were their own, because it is! A truly exceptional experience, can't wait to go back.More
