We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Guarana, our room was large with a double and single bed. The rooms were simple but very clean and had an en suite bathroom with hot water shower (a real luxury!). The rooms were cleaned daily which was an added bonus. We also had a hammock and chair on our terrace area which was a lovely place to relax. The kitchen had all the essentials to make dinner, which could be enjoyed in the common area. The real highlight though was the staff, Andrea, Paolo and the team were wonderful, really helpful and insightful and they made sure our stay was really comfortable. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends or family looking for a simple clean option.

We ended up staying here for 2 weeks, because we just couldn't bring ourselves to leave. The room was clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The shared kitchen was big and fully equipped, although sometimes some utensils went missing. The staff was really friendly and helpfull, and the location is perfect.

Very nice cabins, very quiet, good fully equipped kitchen, clean. What more can a traveler want? Good place to stay if in Puero Viejo. Very good value for money. Cabins all have their small private porch with hammock and rocking chair. Nice for your afternoon drink.

Stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed the little individual cabina. Everything was clean and water was hot. really enjoyed the terrace that came with each cabina. The common area is very inviting and the hosts Andrea and Paolo are super friendly. Easy walking distance to beach, shops, restaurants and bus stop. They also rent bikes which are great for a trip to the beach or neighboring towns. Daily cleaning service. Would definitely stay here again! highly recommend for backpackers and families alike.

I traveled to Puerto Viejo around April 2013, and my stay at this hotel was definitely a highlight of my trip. The decoration, cleanliness, coziness and peacefulness of this place were great. It`s location is perfect: within walking distance from a large supermarket, cafes, restaurants and the beach! You only need to walk about three blocks from the San José bus stop, which is a huge plus. They have coffee available and a well equipped kitchen for guests to use!
Andrea, who works at the front desk is extremely helpful, friendly and professional. He makes sure you have all the necessary information, is happy to make any tour arrangements you may need and makes you feel at home. He can also help you rent a bike (available at the hotel) and gives you tips on exploring the different beaches.
I would definitely stay here again, it`s a great spot!

I could not find any point that is not perfect at this location.

The room was big, extremely clean and cool. All windows had a moscito-protection and the room was very high (about 4 meters). Under the roof have been windows too, which led to a circulation of air that cooled the room comfortable down even without ventilador. If this is not enough a big and strong - 5 different speeds - ventilator fixed on top and adjusted exactly in the perfect hight to accelerate the air flow can be used. If one moscito has found the way through an open door you can protect yourself against it with an also fix mounted moscito net above each bed.

The private bathroom attached to the room is in the same manner as the living room. Big and clean and with hot water.

The kitchen can be used freely and there is always hot coffee of Italien quality which is for free use. Not necessary to mention that also the kitchen is clean and friendly.

The help, friendliness and politeness of the owner Paolo and his stuff (especially Andrea) is exceeding any other place. They help in all kinds of problems and know always what to do.

Last but not least there is a garden like in a chinese temple that is surronded by the rooms or better say small houses. In front of each room is a place with a table two chairs a hammock and a rope for the clothes. Since it opens to the garden everybody has a private space as in an his own house.

As for the walls they are painted with colors like in china which has the air of calmness and friendliness and fits to the garden. The colors of the walls are so fresh that they seem to have been painted one day ago.

I think that is because Paolo and his wife life in this place and he takes care of his house. He told me he once was a Manager in Afrika before he settled down here. His house shows that he knows how to keep a hostel new even in a climate like in Costa Rica.

In beginning I wanted just stay one or two days and at the end I stayed a week and was realy sad that I had to go.

We only spent one night here, but enjoyed the accommodations. The kids thought the mosquito netting was neat and the fans kept the place cool. The cabina was clean and only a couple blocks from the main strip. The desk staff were helpful and the grounds filled with flora.
