We stayed in sept 2011 during a three week trip in Central America. On the positive side the location was very quiet and in a lovely garden. Our upstairs room had a poor shower with cold water night and morning, no soap, and one glass in the windowless room. Ventillation was good with insect screens. The walk to town is fine by day but we met a traveller who had a bag snatched in the dim stretch of street outside. Some taxis are available though. Pretty forgettable.

This place was beautiful- well kept and clean, with great hammocks to relax in. It was far enough from town that we didn't have to worry about noise problems, but close enough that we could walk 5 minutes and be at a restaurant or the beach. The breakfast, which was included, was delicious! The owner, a gentleman from France, was very accommodating and helped us out with anything we asked.

Blue Conga is a perfect place to stay in Puerto Viejo, only a five minute walk into town with all its shops and yummy restaurants, five minute walk the other direction is beautiful Cocles beach. The rooms are simple and clean but the staff is what makes this hotel exceptional. Magdalena was our hostess/receptionist and made us feel right at home; she prepared our breakfasts every morning including her tasty banana cake! Pierre and Marise manage the property and are amazingly kind and thoughtful people. We spent half of our days in Puerto Viejo with them getting to see the National Park at Cahuita, a waterfall near Bri Bri that was breathtaking and the beach at Punta Uva which was the most amazing place we visited in Costa Rica. The hotel at Blue Conga is in an excellent location, clean and comfortable accommodations and a staff that goes above and beyond. Pura Vida!!!

We were very pleased with our hotel selection in Puerto Viejo. The hotel is in a great location. It's just on the edge of town and a short walk to Cocles Beach. The hotel rooms are simple and clean. The Blue Conga staff was amazing. They were incredibly helpful and kind. They shared so much information on the best things to do in the area, the best places to eat, and even information about the culture and history of Costa Rica. Pierre was beyond hospitable. He drove us around to some beautiful spots and helped us spot monkeys and sloths. If we had to do it all over, we would choose Blue Conga for sure!

We had a room downstairs, it´s called "1st floor". The rooms are very dark and this was really the worst room we have had during our whole Costa Rica stay. The last night we get a room at 2nd floor - this one is a little bit better. Nevertheless the rendering of the walls crumbles down in each room, all seems to be a bit scruffy. Also the breakfast is the worst we get at all accomodations in Costa Rica. There were also some misundertandings with our booking. The owners noticed that they hadn´t booked us for the last day - that´s why we had to change the room - fortunately a better one at 2nd floor. At the homepage there is written you can pay by credit card. When we wanted to pay at the last day, credit card payment wasn´t available, so we had to go into town to get cash.

If you are looking for a quiter place we recommend near by village Cahuita. There are also nice beaches as near Puerto Viejo. In Puerto Viejo is a litle bit loud and crowdy.

Room Tip: Try to get another accomodation!!!

If I was going to Pueto Viejo I would stay here. It is clean, sfae, quiet, only a 5 minute walk from town and only a 5 minute walk from the beaches. The staff are really friendly and nice and will answer any query you have and advise on what activities to do and what to see in the area. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a great time. Pierre from the staff even drove us around! Excellent hotel and would thoroughly recommend.
