“Delicious food. Fantastic owners.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2014

We wondered in here by accident. Lucky us. They were full with reservations, and we waited, so they could fit us in. I was very grateful for that.

The food was absolutely amazing. I would love picked my plate up and licked it clean if I had been at home.

Quiet, sweet ambiance with only a few tables and nice lighting. Definitely romantic.

Tip: Make a reservation. Or three. You won't be disappointed.

“Very comfortable, friendly restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

El Refugio is a very good restaurant, with a comfortable air and excellent service. The food was generally well prepared and tasty, and relatively sophisticated for the area. We eat there twice: guacamole w/home made chips was excellent, as was the spinach crepe that we shared as an appetizer. Both the breaded sea bass w/yucca and the salmon w/roast potatoes and veggies were vg to excellent. I had the skirt steak with chimichurri topping, roast potatoes and salad. The steak was outstanding the first night , but over salted the second. The leche crepe w/ice cream was excellent. They also had the best wine options in the area; very well priced. The chef and his wife, from Argentina were charming and friendly.

“Still the best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2014

We have been looking forward to going back to El Refugio, because we enjoyed it so much last year and we were not disappointed. The food is still amazing. The skirt steak is “to die for”. The Guacamole and chips are great as a starter and the desserts (the crepe or the grilled pineapple) are really yummy. In short, we loved it so much that we ate there twice during our 4 night stay in the area.

“Best meal on my trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 January 2014

Our little group enjoyed a fantastic meal at this very charming restaurant. A place with just a few tables, out doors, it felt like this wonderful meal in the jungle but with fine wine and one of the best steaks i have ever had!

The girls enjoyed pasta and great smoothies and the adults fantatic salad, breads and steaks.

Fantastic.
