This is a wonderful refuge for injured animals. The guides are very knowledgeable and you are able to get up close with the animals. This is a must see !

I would have given this 5 stars had they advertised it is not kid friendly! The guides are spectacular and you learn EVERYTHING about the indigenous Flora & Fauna of Costa Rica!! Only problem is you learn EVERYTHING!!! VERY interesting for an adult but 5-10 minutes at each animal is too much for little kids!!

Liked hearing about the individual rescued animal stories but I wish the tours could also be self-guided. One and a half hours is a very long time on a hot day.

We went here and I would go again. We had Dexter as our tour guide and he was wonderful. He was so knowledgeable about all the animals. We went on the public tour and it was definitely worth it.

The Jaguar rescue centre is a 'must see' if you are in Puerto Viejo. The people there rescue animals that have been kept as pets, or injured, and then nurse them back to health before releasing as many as possible back into the wild. There are no jaguars, but you will see many other animals that are normally so far up in the canopy that they are difficult to view. A particular highlight was the baby monkeys. You can go into the enclosure with them and they will climb all over you! I also enjoyed the tour from our very knowledgable guide, who answered all of the hundreds of questions fired at him!
