So great to have the opportunity to see some amazing local wildlife so close without it having a negative impact on the animals. The whole ethos of the centre is rehabilitate and release and this message is very well explained. You are allowed in with the baby monkeys as they need to socialise as part of their care program but otherwise this is not a petting zoo so don't go expecting this. The guides are extremely knowledgable and you will leave having learnt a lot about the wildlife of Costa Rica and the work of this inspiring organisation. The most amazing thing for me was that all staff are completely voluntary, meaning that all your entrance fee goes straight into the care of the animals. I would recommend not paying through the nose to be part of a tour which drives you here. The centre is well signposted about 500m further south from Punta Cocles. Turn up for either 9.30 or 11.30 for when the tours leave and only pay $15. There is plenty of space to leave bikes and for after, there are lots of nice cafés just slightly further south down the road to Punta Uva.

This place was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. The diversity of animals and the up close encounters makes it a great experience. The guides provided lots of useful and interesting information. If your lucky the toucan Tooki Tooki will follow your group and show off his smarts and personality. Highly recommended!

This is a wonderful refuge for injured animals. The guides are very knowledgeable and you are able to get up close with the animals. This is a must see !

I would have given this 5 stars had they advertised it is not kid friendly! The guides are spectacular and you learn EVERYTHING about the indigenous Flora & Fauna of Costa Rica!! Only problem is you learn EVERYTHING!!! VERY interesting for an adult but 5-10 minutes at each animal is too much for little kids!!

Liked hearing about the individual rescued animal stories but I wish the tours could also be self-guided. One and a half hours is a very long time on a hot day.
