“A nice place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Puerto Viejo”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

The owner is a friendly guy who could help you in virtually anything...the cabinas are basic and extremly clean for a good price. If you need something just ask, Fred and his wife are eager to give you a hand. They have two kids which is great to know if you are traveling with your own children. There is a small swimming pool in the garden. If you wanna eat well, go to Banana Azul...

Be My Guest is a bit unusual because it is exactly what it purports to be. The rooms are basic but very spacious. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen facilities provide the option of eating in. Frederick, the warm and friendly owner, is eager to please and very informative about ways to avoid spending money unnecessarily.

This is not a place for travelers seeking the amenities of a 4 or 5 star resort in like -new condition. Rather, it's a clean and practical place for a budget traveler or one who is just looking for good value with no frills. There is a pool onsite but, amazingly, Frederick has also arranged for his guests to have full pool and beach privileges at Banana Azul, a higher scale resort less than five minutes walk.

Be My Guest is not really a 4 star facility in terms of structural and cosmetic details and various hotel amenities, but I'm giving it 4 Trip Advisor stars because I think that's what it deserves for value in its own class. I felt safe, clean and comfortable there and appreciated Frederick's warmth and enthusiasm. I recommend it to travelers who have a realistic sense of what to expect in this modest price range.

Room Tip: All rooms are exceptionally large. Consider upstairs or downstairs, a/c or just fans.

This cabinas are great. U have everything u need for spend a good time. A nice bed, TV, fridge, kitchen and all u might need for cooking if u want, the room is big enough. In the outside there is an area for relax and a small but nice pool. The cabinas are located really close to the beach, but little bit outside the town so you can have a good rest without too much noise. Frederick the owner is really nice and will try to make u feel comfortable from the beginning. Puerto Viejo is a good place, with lot of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and clubs. Nearby u have Punta Uva and Manzanillo which are wonderful beaches.

You will fall in love with Costa Rica all over again, or for the very first time, when you stay at Be My Guest Cabinas. My wife, Alicia, and I certainly did and we're no strangers to Costa Rica. Pura Vida (pure life) is found here. From the moment you arrive at this very reasonably-priced heaven on earth, you'll be greeted by a very gregarious gringo host named Frederick, who serves up southern hospitality when needed and provides privacy too. I swear he is a cross between Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock. He will entertain you, sometimes making you laugh, with his southern charm, having hailed from Atlanta, Georgia, throughout your tranquilo (calm) visit to this plant-filled lodging that's a short walk to the caresses of the Caribbean's sandy beach and sensuous surf. Currently at $30 (internet special) a night ($40 for a room with air conditioning), you can't beat the value of this place, located nearby a much more expensive hotel that allows customers from Be My Guest Cabinas to dine at their fabulous outdoor covered facility that is surrounded by a moat with exotic fish and turtles. Thrill to the lush vegetation and wildlife like exotic yellow-tailed birds all around Frederick's oasis, which is simple, but very comfortable and clean, with each cabina featuring queen size beds, kitchenettes that allow you to cook. Coffee makers and refrigerators are also in place, as well as cable TV on request. There is also a newly built (by the owner himself) pool for luxuriating in day or night and a bar, now in the planning stages, but operational in the near future, to wet your whistle. Whether it's on or off season, sunshiny or rainy, you'll relax in this respite and feel peachy keen where nature is just outside your door, but touches like hot water, full bathrooms, and screens on doors and windows to keep the bugs in their natural habitat, have been carefully considered. Special trips to local sites and sounds conducted by Oscar, a plant enthusiast and coffee connoisseur, around Port Viejo are conveniently arranged for a reasonable price by the owner. You will begrudgingly leave this poignant posada, that's located on the outskirts of town, which is loaded with a plethora of shops and restaurants, just a quick taxi ride, or longer beach walk away. Not to worry though, your cherished memories of this place will linger and your desire to return will result in your planning for your next trip with Be My Guest Cabinas as your base of vacation operation. So, save your money for other fun things to do while in Costa Rica, by booking at this moderately priced place that gives you more bang for your buck. Do it soon, as this jungle paradise won't stay a secret for very long.

Room Tip: Lower floors have a/c, so plan ahead to make that a special request. If a fan and the cooler Costa R...
