“Try the ice cream!”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

We stayed at La Kukula lodge in Playa Chiquita, just a few minutes walk from Alice. While walking around checking out the scenery on a hot afternoon, we could not pass it up when we saw the sign that said "homemade ice cream". So glad we didn't! Delicious! I had the mint brownie and got it to go, but ended up eating it all before I could make out of there!

“Homemade ice-cream to die for!”
Reviewed 12 April 2014 via mobile

Having stumbled across this place on day one we then cycled 30mins in the wrong direction to have it again the following day - well worth it! Still dreaming of that peanut butter ice-cream... The best I've ever tasted!

“Very friendly and helpful owner”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

We were desperately looking for sustenance one evening when all the restaurants were full or closed. During the evening we learned that the internet was down and apparently people were unable to book taxis to take them into Puerto Viejo de Talamanca for dinner.
The owner of Alice's bar came to our rescue despite him being closed and totally out of food. We had walked miles up and down looking for an open restaurant or one that wasn't full and we were shattered. The owner had us sit down and gave us a couple of beers which were like nectar! I would like to thank him for his kindness and wish him and his family well.

“Great Guacamole & Chips”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

We stopped in for an afternoon sanck one day and had great salsa, guacamole and chips. The Pilsen beer was cold as was the Ron Centenario dark rum with coke and lime (Cuba Libre). The owner is an American ex-pat who spoke perfect English and gave us some tips on things to see and do in the area. He may or may not accept credit cards depending on who you are and whether the phone lines are down! We tried to go back, but his hours were very sporatic and unpredictable.
