Owner description: Surrounded by the Bribri Reservation, the precious Kekoldi Indigenous Reserve is home to wildlife and foliage found in no other place in the world.

In order to get to the reserve, you have to travel a bit into the rain forest, but you see some interesting things along the way. Once at the reserve, you are given a tour of a family farm where they explain how they use a variety of natural resources to survive.

This is a little used place but there is a nice walk up to the viewpoint and a small Iguana farm which merits a look.

Our guide kind of hyped this place up and told ust there were 600 indians on this reservation. We saw 4. Our tour started in the gift shop, really? Had no need for whatever those trinkets were. Then a mini tour of about 25 yards where the guide pointed out the uses of some of the plants that grow on the reservation. While I did like hearing about how they live off the land, this just didn't add to the value of my trip or tour experience. Sorry.

at the kekoldi reserve you will meet a bribri family in their own environment.a family consisting of dad,mom and 9 children take you into their daily live for a while showing you how they live.they use all natural sources and can tell you all about plants and animals and what they are used for.also they show you how to make cacao (and you can taste it of course)and different handcrafts... interesting trip to get to know the roots of the indigenous a litle better

This trip is not to be missed if you are interested in the tribes that were original to Costa Rica. The "tour" through the forest behind the village of Watsi is worth the drive over the bumpy roads to get there. If you go, take some small money, colonies or dollars, as there are inexpensive gifts made by the BriBri available.
