A jewel in the middle of nowhere. No one at any of the lodges will tell you it exists. Great food, preparedby the owner and served by her husband. Best natural drinks, no soft drinks, beautiful atmosphere. The whole family had a great meal. The guacamole is to die for, the chips are home made, and the setting is cozy. Don't miss it.

The meal was nice, the fish was perfectly cooked and the service was great. We would have spend a lot more time there but we were due for the turtle nesting night time visit. We were very pleased and would go there again.
It was dark out, so not so fun with the view, and since it was low season there were just 2 other tables.

We were so pleasantly surprised with our dinner we came back the next night!
The first night we decided to have a bit of a "splurge". We ordered drinks, shared appetizer, 2 entrees and a shared dessert. We enjoyed everything and spent around US$50. However, the second night we ordered the passionfruit chicken sandwich and the veggie sandwich on homemade buns, Both sandwiches are served with choice of salad or fries (I don't usually eat fries but after the waiter told us how good they were I had to try them and he was right!)and spent under $20. It is very possible to have an extremely economical meal that tastes wonderful.
The food is simple, fresh, made in-house and most importantly is is made and served with love.
Located on the back road in front of the beach just outside of town past Miss Junie's.

So many wonderful Vegetarian options, the Garlic/Roasted Red Pepper Hummus was the best I have ever had ...and the baked Zucchini was Delish! Friendly service and warm atmosphere completed the experience...

The atmosphere is nice enough; open with tablecloths and soft music and nice lighting. It would have been more comfortable if they had burned a mosquito coil in front which would help keep the little darlings away.

We came to this restaurant because I live in Costa Rica and I had heard about it and it was new since my last trip to Tortuguero - plus - my granddaughter was interested in the shrimp that had been featured on the menu we read. Well, they were out of shrimp.

So she had what was called a "fish steak" by our waiter, even being so pompous as to ask if she wanted her "steak" medium or well done! hahahaha

Along with the fish steak, she had some deep fried hash browns. They had been formed into what looked like toast squares and then cut into triangles and fried. There was also a little salad that was pretty much inedible to the both of us.

I had the appetizer of "plantain baskets" with black beans since I wasn't all that hungry. Typically, this dish is a "patacone" or flattish, deep fried and crispy plantain with a bowl of ground black beans. At this restaurant, they serve little 1 inch "baskets" squares with a teeny dollop of black beans in it. Yes, it was an appetizer but really, it was essentially four small bites. Maybe five.

While eating out in Tortuguero is never cheap by Costa Rican standards - the average price of the cheapest meal is around $10 - this place was beyond the pale. I paid almost $20 for that "fish steak" with hash browns and inedible salad. (Waayy too much vinegar!)

I am obviously in the minority here, but still -- we are not picky eaters but look for fresh food, cooked well at a decent price. This wasn't it.
