“Absolutely Amazing - except for the accommodations.”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

Wonderful landscaping; incomparable location (you're in a Rain Forest); passable food but the most rustic room you will ever experience. No air conditioning and no windows. Uncomfortable beds and they want you to throw your used toilet tissue in the trash bin.

Truly- all is forgiven because of the unique experience you are getting.

Enjoy and you will make a lifetime of wonderful memories .

We opted for 2 day 1 night tour with them. Transport was available from San Jose in a luxurious bus. We had breakfast at a restaurant en route to Limon. The breakfast was delicious, place very clean and good service. The guide accompanied us from the beginning to the end. They spoke fluent english and spanish. Our guides were Alex and Moises. Alex provided us with the history of COsta rica, information about their vegetation and culture along the way. The bus journey was scenic taking you along banana plantation, papaya fields, very interesting. We had to take boat from Limon to the lodge which was a beauty by itself. The reception at the lodge was very warm. lunch had variety and was delicious.

we went on a tour of the tortuguero village and got a chance to roam along the beach.

We were free to go zipling later that day which we took. The cables were short and not too high. It was through the forest and i felt like a tarzan. The guides were extremely friendly and humorous.

We went for a massage in the spa. It was a different experience to get a massage in the forest, hearing the sounds of insects, water and the wind as opposed to an enclosed room with music from a player. The masseuse did a great job with the massage.

We went on a canal tour at 5:30 am next day. We saw beautiful birds and reptiles during this tour. Without the guide i bet we wont be able to spot the animals or birds by ourselves.

Rooms were very clean. The whole resort blended into the forest so well, it felt like i was living in the forest and not a resort. There is no AC but you dnt need one. They have tried to make it as natural as possible so do not expect hilton in the jungle.A lovely experience and a MUST VISIT.

We went in january so couldn't see the turtles.
Take insect repellent. Full shirt and pants recommended.
.......
I would really recommend a 2 night 3 day package.

I loved this place! The rooms are like elegant cabins….the windows are screens so there is no air conditioning but they have ceiling fans and being open-air like that you can hear the sounds of the wildlife which is magical and relaxing and exciting all at the same time! The rooms are a good size, the beds are comfortable and the room is clean. You can only get here by boat so the place is very remote! The grounds are beautiful and there is a lot of wildlife you will see just walking the property. We had a howler monkey in the trees right outside our cabin! The food is buffet and included in the price of the room, and it was ok but I am not a big fan of buffet food. But it was worth it for the experience of this place! They only have wi-fi in the lobby, which is really the porch outside the office, but again these small inconveniences are nothing compared to really being immersed in the rainforest…..without a ton of people to spoil it! At night you can get a drink at the bar and sit on the dock on the river and look at the stars-wonderful! I highly recommend this on your next trip to Costa Rica!

Room Tip: If you get a room farthest from the office you will have a longer walk but fewer people passing by y...

We got this as part of a package. Nice location, and OK rooms. there is no where to go as the place is isolated on an islland. You can and should go to the next lodge over, and see frogs near the bar.

Beer is expensive. 4 USD for 33 CL. Rooms are nice but simple. No AC, no hairdrier, no fridge, no TV etc. Cold and hot water. There is only ONE chair for sitting outside and then you are sitting on a varanda that is used as a walk-way, so no privacy. These bypassers can see through the window.

The rooms a spread out a lot which is nice.

Great food.

Very few deckchairs at the swimmingpool.

Room Tip: Get rooms at the end, so avoiding peoplle walkin by the windoe.

I stayed here with my brother as the first stop on a tour of Costa Rica. We chose it for the wildlife and location. All I can say is that if you come here you will not be disappointed. Beautiful location, great accommodation (as if you are in the jungle), delicious food, great service and fantastic staff.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. Don't expect air conditioning or fancy facilities, this is the real thing...

We spent two days in Pachira Lodge. It was like staying in paradise, people is so kind and sweet. The place is magic... The rooms have no glasses and at nught you can hear sounds of burds, monkeys and rain. I couldn,t believe it was true. Is not a luxury hotel, but you doesn,t need, you are in the jungle with confort.

We spent 2 nights here as part of a tour. We loved the accomodations, individual cabins in the jungle. Some might find them primative, but after two weeks spent in an Amazon river resort in Peru last year, we greatly appreciated the hot water and ceiling fan. The pool and bar area are just beautiful. We skipped a scheduled tour one afternoon and enjoyed the company of an iquana couple as our only pool area companions. We spent an afternoon in the town shopping and enjoying the local pub.Several of a group went back for more shopping, taking a water taxi for the short ride across the river. The food, while not fancy, was homemade and often delicious. The dining room is rustic and lovely. The very best part, however, was seeing the turtle hatchlings make their way to the sea, almost a religious experience. I was sad to hear that the tour company will not be visiting the area this year due to the difficulty of access due to the very poor roads. Hopefully the roads will be paved as this was our favirie detination of our 10 day trip.

Room Tip: All of the cabins are similar and relatively close to the other areas.
