We have stayed here several times and love it. Vey cute, clean and comfortable. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast is good and it has a good location. We have stayed in 3 different rooms here and have been happy with all of them. It is a fairly basic hotel, no tvs and internet only some areas, but we didn't need anything more. It's very relaxing, I had the best nap of my life here and the view from the dock is great! Hope to return again!

Our stay was nice but a few drawbacks prevent me from giving this accomodation a better note.

First the good points :
Location is great, looking over the lagoon from the village of Tortuguero.
The receptionist was friendly and the morning boat tour we booked with the hotel was perfect. We were lucky to be just the two of us and we got to see lots of wildlife with the guide Roberto. The possibility to switch to a silent motor was great to enjoy the silence of the river.

However :
Our room (downstairs river side) was very stuffy as it was hot and humid during our stay and there was only a tiny window. The ceiling fan wasn't much use, but we were glad to have the floor fan. I had been told at the booking that there were different types of rooms but I didn't expect the room to have such little access to the outside air.
During our turtle tour with a lady guide (I cannot remember her name), we had the impression that she wasn't very interested in the tour and was just doing her duty of walking us along the beach to look for the turtles.

All in all, nice, but far from being the best accomodation of our holiday.

Me and my husband stayed for 2 nights during our honeymoon in april 2014. though making reservation about 5 months (!!!) prior to our arrival, we were notified upon arrival that the room we ordered for the honeymoon stay was already occupied, and will only be available next night. reception lady, as nice as she was, stated that there is nothing she can do about the situation at the comment since no extra rooms were available and owner was overseas, so we could stay in the room they do have for us or we can leave. Angry (very), but as we arrived on the last public boat and wanted only a shower, a dinner and a place to stay - we decided to stay.
Next morning, after coming back from the early morning boat tour, the reception lady has informed us that our originally reserved room is available, and to make up for the mis-happening we won't be charged for the night we stayed. we were happy, and immediately invested the saved money in a guided night walk with Able - finding frogs, lizards and snakes in the jungle trail near the village.

Breakfast was ok - continental standard of eggs, toasted bread & jam, fruits, coffee and juice.

Would like to recommend the early boat tour - it was very well organized, Captain was extremely sharp-eyed and you could feel he deeply cares for the park in which the village is located, and it is important for him that we will get as much out of the cannals tour, in terms of sights, knowledge and fun. . Also the silent electric motor of the boat did it's part perfectly by not making the tour a noisy one.

Room Tip: rooms on the second floor are quieter. the room observing the river was great !

This is one of the best places we've stayed in costa rica. Breakfast is amazing and the early morning tour was excellent. We saw so many animals! The staff were really friendly and helpful. They have a nice deck on the river too, a lovely place to sit and relax. We would definitely stay there again.

Arriving in Tortuguero by boat is very special and pulling up at casa marbella's own dock is very nice. It is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the very nice breakfast or just read your book. Our room was small (our choice) with a ceiling fan that was pointless, lucky there was a stand alone fan that tried keeping us cool. There was one small table, our suitcases left unpacked on the floor. I would advise that a simple hook on the back of the door to hang towels would be appreciated!
Tortuguero town is very very small with no much to see or do except the local national park. We enjoyed walking in the national park and managed to see monkeys, lizards, snake, all sorts of bugs and turtle without a guide. Be sure to use the free wellies the b&b provide.
Overall nice b&b for a few nights.

We were planning to visit Tortuguero in July 2014 and had made a tentative booking at Casa Marbella.

Unfortunately, we could not fit Tortuguero into our tight itinerary and had to drop it in the end.

However, I had numerous correspondene with Daryl Loth of Casa Marbella where we planned to stay and he was extremely helpful and courteous.

If we ever get an opportunity to visit Costa Rica again, I would definitely want to stay there.

If you are looking for a friend who can give you genuine advice, Daryl is the man in Tortuguero.

Upon arriving in Tortuguero, we were a little unsure of what we had gotten ourselves into. Torgtuguero is super small and isolated. Casa Marbella was a nice place to hang out for a few days. The rooms are basic, no AC, just fans, but they are clean and have hot showers. We really liked the outside deck on the river and they serve great breakfasts! We booked the early morning boat tour through the hotel, and it was one of the best experiences we had in Costa Rica! The hotel is located right in the middle of town so you have access to all of the restaurants, the beach, a hiking path in Tortuguero National Park, etc. .
