So I wasn't expecting luxury given the remote location, but the beds were incredibly uncomfortable - the mattresses were so thin you could feel every slat beneath you. The rooms needed a little TLC - flaky paint and a couple of friendly cockroaches in the bathroom. Breakfast was not included within the price, but charged at a rate of 5000 Colones. The rice and beans were pretty flavourless, but breakfast was OK overall. The dining area was great, overlooking the river, so you could watch the birds and monkeys whilst eating.
The lodge also offered evening meals - ate here one night and wouldn't repeat the experience. Eat in Tortuguero (Budda cafe) as the size and flavour of dinner was poor at the lodge.
