“Ultimate Pura Vida experience!”
Reviewed 19 November 2013 via mobile

I stayed at Burica Rancho for 2 weeks instead of my planned 2 days. It was seriously hard to leave this amazing place. The Dutch hosts Jort & Fem were awesome, the food (breakfast & dinner) was heavenly, beautiful hikes, 2 amazing waterfalls, diverse wildlife in the backyard (the jungle) and an amazing place to surf (all levels). Pura Vida!

Super nice location with great hospitality. Great wave in front of the house and beautiful waterfalls nearby. The bumpy road gifs you the real feeling of Costa Rica and brings you to other great surf spots near the house like Pavones or by boat to Matapalo.
Beside surfing the horse ride is amazing.
The Rancho Burica is an relaxing place to stay for a while and shoot the best sunsets, you won't get disappointed, we loved it!

If there ever was a hidden heaven on earth this is the place. . .
Its a bumpy lumpy road that runs down to the place driven by the grey pot-bellied bus driver but well worth it.
In a nut shell this place offers amazing waves, a rain-forest and wilderness so green and full of nature and life its untrue and the places you stay in are to die for and feel homely and at a bargain price. The food here is locally cooked and changes daily so you always get to try something new and yummy :)
My stay here was for seven weeks but, but it truly felt like a couple of weeks as time goes by so fast.
Last but not least I would like to say they have nicest hosts you could ever wish to meet (Jord & Femke) that look after you so well they became my family which actually made it hard to leave.
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger once said. . . I'LL BE BACK X

Room Tip: All rooms are good. . . Each different & unique in its own way

When I took off to Costa Rica for a one week respite wedged between summer classes and the fall semester for graduate school, I was looking a place that was far-removed, inexpensive (let's be honest, I'm a student), clean and had a decent point break. It had all this and more. Jord and Femke are both friendly and hospitable and the location is gorgeous: a bit of an expedition to get out there, but if that wasn't the case it would probably be overrun by backpackers. Food was delicious, though be prepared to fend for yourself for lunch. And the waves were really good for an unseasoned surfer like myself: consistent and not congested with other wave-hungry people. Tell the grey-bearded bus driver hello for me when you go!

When you take the bus from Golfito to Punta Banco, and you feel like you're in a wash machine for 3 hours, you can't imagine anything to be worth the horror that the grey-bearded bus driver is putting you through. However, when you get to the Rancho Burica everything falls in to place. Jordan and Femke, the managers, make you feel at home straight away. They'll make sure that you experience everything that the place has to offer. Great surfing right in front of the door, waterfall in the garden and amazing trails in the jungle. Must do's(!!): horseback jungle tour with Wilberth and taking a dolphinspotting/whalewatching/fishing/surfing-boat trip with Harley.

Make sure you visit the Rancho at the end of your trip, because it is kind of hard to say goodbye. We'll be back for sure!!

It's totally worth to visit this beautiful rancho!!
Not only for the surf, but also for relaxing or small activity's like boattrip and fishing, waterfall and walking trails through the jungle, horsebackriding, etc etc.
Jord and Femke are very friendly!
And the food.....the food was outstanding delicious.
If your make a planning to visit Costa Rica, do not and up here for the last two days, you will regret it.....that it was only two days.....it's better to start here so you always change your planning to stay longer!! And oh yeah...did I already mentioned that the food was excellent....

What a nice place is Rancho Burica! We stayed there almost a week and it was the best of all our trip through Costa Rica. We made reservations and the staff didn't have incurable slackers syndrome as the lonely planet says. The staff was really helplfull and very friendly. The house we rented (i believe it's called Ola Vista). Is amazing!!! Super luxurious and when we were lying in bed, which was mega kingsize and super soft, we could see the jungle and hear the ocean! The surrounding is beautifull and we spotted multiple whales, from the sunddeck, which is situated in the backyard of Rancho Burica.
We miss the place, the people and the staff.
Rancho Burica, where the bad road ends and the good life begins is true by all means!
