“Glorious place”
Reviewed 9 March 2018 for a stay in March 2018

We felt at home immediately in the house. Between the beautiful paintings and comfortable beds, well thought out accommodation we had everything we needed. The first night we had dinner in one of the walking distance restaurant, love the Costa Rica cuisine. The wireless worked well and we stayed connected throughout the stay.

The area of the house is glorious. If you want a vacation with plenty of natural beauty, cozy and private environment, peace and quiet then this is highly recommended.

We had a grey and overcast second day but it didn't stop us from going to the ATV tour up in the mountains and have a wonderful view of the Pacific coast. For us, this property is an unique, sense of place experience. We felt Costa Ricans not just because we got to shop and eat where the locals are but because we try to get into the Pura vida life style.
Beside all the wonderful experiences that we got around the area, the inside of the house is elegant with wonderful splashes of color and texture, high ceilings, air conditioning, stainless steel appliances. The gardens and birds outside are delightful, one morning we took photos of a visiting monkey outside in the garden. Also, lots of butterflies, birds, etc...
You can take walks around the property and discover all the fruits trees, there is so much beauty. We also recommend when you book this property to check all the tours available in the area, they pick you up right in front of the property. We met a lot of cool people in this excursions. yes, we will be back!!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and the troop of Mantled Howler Monkeys. They really are amazing in their natural habitat especially when they jump from tree to tree with little babies clinging to their backs.

Many people don't realize that Costa Rica has two seasons, the green and dry seasons. During the green season it tends to rain in the late afternoon and all of Costa Rica is very lush and green. During the dry season many part of Costa Rica are under official drought conditions and the local municipalities and government will enforce water conservation. Towns, golf courses, and hotels will actually have the water restricted or turned off for hours every day. This does not happen at the property. The property has its own well and fresh water system with a large captivation tank. The captivation tank holds more than enough for all our guests to have fresh filtered water. During the dry season we do our part by not watering all 20 acres or having the various water features unnecessarily using water that is reserved for guests. We only water the gardens and yards around the homes as well as the road landscaping. By doing this we can always guarantee our guests have all the fresh water they need. There are times during the dry season where the wind blows strongly for days. It is a refreshing time of year. Some of the 450 mango, papaya, cashew, banana, star fruit, and citrus trees on the 20 acres are blooming or with fruit, but others have leaves falling. I hire extra employees to maintain the property. When there are strong winds and lots of trees shortly after one area is raked the wind blows new leaves right back to that area. I am sure you noticed all of these things not only at the property, but throughout the entire Central Pacific region of Costa Rica. We Costa Ricans try to enjoy the beautiful elements that come with each season and hope that tourists feel the same when they visit. People can not visit Costa Rica in the dry season and expect an abundant amount of dense green growth everywhere, just as a person can't visit a ski resort in Aspen during summer and expect 2 feet of fresh snow. I do not say this to be snide, but I would like for you and future travelers to understand the different seasons of Costa Rica.

I do want to apologize for the pool furniture and confusion with the kitchen items and clubhouse hours. There was an incident with the pool furniture and we did not want to leave the pool area with only tables, a few chairs, and benches. Half the furniture was sent out for improvements. When they return the remaining pieces will be sent.

With regards to the toaster and blender the kitchens are large, but there is only so much counter space for these items. The welcome letter and guest guidelines given to you upon arrival mention that if you need a toaster, blender, additional pots, pans, or anything else including use of the clubhouse gym to please ask the manager. Extra kitchen items are stored at the clubhouse so as not to clutter the home.

I hope you decide to visit us again in the coming green season. You will be able to enjoy the different climate and flowering fruits as well as remedies to all your comments and concerns.

“Totally deceptive advertising on the web site”
Reviewed 15 February 2018 for a stay in January 2018

The place is very remote and it seems like a jungle. There are no nearby attractions. We were told by the manager the beach was half hour drive away. The location of the house was not the same as advertised. The amenities provided and cleanliness did not meet our expectation. There was safety concerns which we were warned about by the manager.
Customer relationship was poor. The manager waited for over an hour for a text reply from the owner. We were unable to speak to the owner directly to voice our concerns. Based upon our experience we will not recommend this place to anyone.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country filled with an abundance of nature and wildlife. The property is not located in a city center, so we are fortunate enough to have Mantled Howler Monkeys, Coati, Agoati, tropical birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, and much more on the 20 acre converted mango and fruit plantation. I mentioned this to you in our messages and in the over 40 emails we exchanged before you arrived. When you first arrived at the property you mentioned an issue with the animal noise, specifically the Mantled Howler Monkeys, as well as 2 of the 12 outside light bulbs being out. I stayed in constant contact with you as well as the manager and offered to have someone change the light bulbs immediately. You refused because you did not want to stay near the troop of monkeys. I contacted the cleaning crew and had another home, away from the monkeys, cleaned while you were at dinner. Upon returning from dinner you wanted a full refund and refused to even go into the home that was just cleaned. I did everything I could to accommodate you, but you refused to stay and even took the effort to write a bad review. As you can see from the 80 plus 4 and 5 star reviews on this an other sites guests very much like the property. We even received two 5 star reviews from guests staying during the same dates you would have been at the property. Both reviews mentioned how amazing the experience was to have 26 monkeys with babies right on the property.

I wish your experience with us would have been different. I hope you enjoyed my beautiful Costa Rica.

We just returned from a fabulous trip to Costa Rica. Part of our trip involved an 11 night stay at this property. We absolutely loved it! We received a warm Costa Rican welcome from Siney who manages the property. Siney's knowledge of the area was very helpful. The property is very beautiful, with huge trees, flowering vines and lovely landscaping. Each house is situated very privately and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting on our private patio every morning and evening. We woke most mornings to the calls of Howler Monkeys and were so fortunate to watch them up close, as they fed on fruit in the trees. We saw mama monkeys with babes on their backs, young ones venturing onto branches and others leaping from branch to branch. It was special. We had the opportunity to observe Scarlet Macaws, green parrots, blue parakeets, hawks, tiny hummingbirds, clay coloured robins (National bird of CR) and little wrens who sang the most beautiful songs. We also saw numerous iguanas and lizards. We picked grapefruit, limes & tangerines from trees close to our house..
The house was just like the photos. Bed was comfy, linens were very nice, towels were soft and fluffy, the house was very clean and was equipped with everything we needed. Wi-Fi worked well. It wasn't long before we were calling it "home". The location of this property was perfect for us-we never felt like we were driving too far to go shopping or to the beaches etc. Our goal for this part of our trip was to experience the Costa Rican culture up close. We shopped at the local Farmers Market with Siney in Orotina. (10 min drive) Fabulous fruits and veggies & fresh baking at great prices! We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of shopping for fresh tuna and huge shrimp at the Fish Market in Tarcoles. (15 min drive). Maxi-Pali in Orotina or Jaco is a great place to stock up on essentials. We discovered some great beaches. Dona Ana was a real treat, as it's a favorite with the locals. Super friendly, fun atmosphere at this beach. There is a small café and showers/toilets. Playa Blanca is very pretty and there are lounge chairs to rent. Our favorite beach was Herradura Beach (20 min drive) We loved the vibe on this beach. It is an authentic little beach town with a fun mix of locals and tourists. The bay & surrounding scenery is gorgeous and the water is so warm! We rented beach loungers from a little business called Supherra. (Also rents paddle boards and boogie boards). There are a few pebbly areas on this beach, but overall it is lovely sand.

We ate at a few of the restaurants close to the property and the food was delicious. There is a fun Karaoke Bar just down the road. The souvenir store across the street is excellent and prices compare favorably to the other stands we visited. The pool on the property is clean & refreshing and the vegetation around the pool is beautiful. We loved walking on the trails that led from our house to the pool.

I would certainly recommend visiting Manuel Antonio National Park. The beaches are absolutely gorgeous and the wildlife is fascinating! (well worth the 1.5 hr drive) Leave the property early and spend the day down there. We also discovered a beautiful location to watch the sunset over the ocean. Villas Caletas is enroute to Herradura and Jaco. It sits high on a point looking over the ocean. There is an amphitheater built specifically to watch the sunset-you can order drinks. We went twice. It is truly magical.

Luxury Eco Friendly Homes (Villa del Rey) is a gem. We felt that we got exceptional value for the price we paid. Thank you to Siney, John & Marina for making our stay so enjoyable. It was truly a pleasure to meet you! We have wonderful memories. Pura Vida!

Dear S., Thank you so much for leaving such a wonderful review, we are so happy to read that you enjoyed the peace and quiet as much as we do! As you could see, it is such a vibrant area and I truly believe that this property is the most beautiful place on earth. The charming house and terraces provide an exciting Area for barbecue and entertain, the pool area is a treasure and scenery to behold. I also love watching the monkeys in the trees and it is surprising how protective the mamas monkeys are. Relaxing and just being with the nature that surrounds the house and being able to pick your own fruits is such a treat. This is the main reason we love this place and to be able to share it with others who appreciate the beauty of the layout and the views is a plus.

I am very thankful for the awesome renters that love and enjoy Ecoluxury homes, the local knowledge and extra service that we provide. We certainly like your thoughts and comments on the House and hope you will come back for another visit in the future.

We look forward to your next stay. Pura vida, Siney, John and Marina
