I fly fish fro Billfish at least 60 days per year, when I got the opportunity to fish with George Beckwith aboard "Dragin Fly" I was thrilled. Captain James Smith along with mates Berto and Marcos keep "Dragin Fly", a 43 foot Mavric, in bristol condition. After catching several sailfish on conventional tackle, We fly fished for the last hour of the first day. I caught and released a large sailfish on 20 pound tippet.
On the second day we caught and released several sailfish on fly, when we raised a striped marlin, marcos and Berto teased it in perfectly, captain James turned the vessel to starboard, pulled the engines ut of gear, I cast the fly to that marlin, and 15 minutes later we released that striped marlin on fly.We also raised another Blue Marlin which did not tease in to within casting distance.
On the third day, after catching and releasing a sailfish and another striped marlin on fly, George teased in a red hot Blue Marlin, I cast to it, however that Blue refused to eat my fly. This was my first time back to CR in 20 years, I will be coming back, often to fish with this world class crew aboard Dragin Fly, George and Anna run a first class operation and this crew understands the demands of fly fishing for billfish.
Thanks Guys, for an Awesome trip
