This was our favorite bar. Food was EXCELLENT and staff super friendly. Right in the heart of Santa Teresa.

The menu is not very extensive and offers mainly standard mexican food. Yet the food itself is fresh and tastes great. The beers here are cheaper than many other places in town. We went a couple times to watch some march madness basketball and there were two large tvs and a huge projection on a wall showing the games. The time we went in a little before they had even opened to watch some tennis, they let us in and found the game on tv for us.

I went to Da Mon Key two times to order the nachos! They are big enough to feed two people and so good. I tried them with the chicken both times, which does cost a little extra (about $3) but was definitely worth it. I also tried the cheeseburger, which I have heard is the best there, but I was more impressed by the nachos. Service was great and we didn't have to wait long for our food on either visit. The beer is cheap also. The atmosphere is very laid back - at one point our table was surrounded by sleeping local dogs. This didn't bother us at all, but might bother some visitors.
Da Mon Key only takes cash, so be prepared for that as well!

Best place in town to meet up have a few brews and share stories about the days waves. The food isnt bad either.

We went here for lunch and shared the nachos. It was plenty for 2 people to share. The carnitas was tender, the salsa & guac was great, and the real cheese was melted on (wasn't any b.s. cheese sauce). It really hit the spot after a long hike. They have big screen tv's behind the bar. A soccer game was playing while we were there. Open air restaurant has nice atmosphere. Good location, in the heart of Malpais. Would have loved a t-shirt because their logo is cool, but they were out of shirts.
