We spent two weeks just prior and over the Christmas holidays at this perfect location. We are a family of four with two teenagers, aged 15 & 17. Even they agreed that it was exactly what we needed!
We arrived exhausted from our very busy routine at home and spent the first few days simply lounging about the house and catching up on our sleep. That would not be for everyone but it sure was for us. From Casa de Fox, you can’t hear any traffic at all. You can only see a few rooftops from the front door. In the direction of the pool, you are completely isolated. Wifi was pretty consistent, a fact our teens were very pleased by. This house is literally in the rain forest. Assorted birds and monkeys and iguanas were abundant.
The house was clean and very spacious for our family. You could easily fit a larger family or two if you get along well. Four bathrooms gave everyone lots of privacy. Loved the open concept but sound does travel a bit. Crying babies would definitely deter sleeping in. The house is apparently only six years old and is in very good shape. The teenagers wished there were more curtains to keep out the morning sun but my husband and I used the natural light to encourage us to take a daily 7 am one-hour walk along the near-by trails/roads. I would highly recommend that as through these walks we saw more monkeys, an assortment of butterflies including blue morphos, coatis ( local racoons), deer and many birds. The attached photos are a mere sample.
We did ask Brian to help arrange a few outings for us: kayaking in the mangroves, river rafting and snorkeling from a catamaran. He was attentive and timely and offered to help us with anything. When we had yet to see a Macaw, he arranged for us to visit one nearby. Thank goodness we had a four-wheel drive though!
We would recommend this location to anyone wanting to stay off the beaten path. Groceries are a 20 min drive away; nightlife wasn’t part of our trip but might be available 30 mins away in Manuel Antonio; closest beaches about a 30 min drive away. Surfing in Dominical was a highlight, but so was just hanging around the house reading, swimming, drinking cocktails ( they have a good blender) , and playing games ( we brought some from home like Scrabble and cribbage).
Definitely a highlight of family vacations past!
We rented the house for a long weekend only to find out that Hurricane Otto was expected during our stay. Anne was so helpful! She was more than willing to work with us and make sure that our safety was the priority. Without hesitation she allowed us to change our reservation to another weekend that worked for us. Not all owners would have been as understanding! Thanks Anne:)
A beautiful home that is a peaceful and quiet retreat in the rain forest with all of the amenities and special touches that you might need. The house is beautifully furnished and very well maintained. Perhaps the most memorable aspect of our stay was the property management team. They attended to our every need, answered all of our many questions about the area, and they went above and beyond the call of duty. The level of service was exceptional!
