The San Bada hotel is literally at the gate to the park and a short walk to the beach making it a very convenient location. It has very nice rooms, good food and very good service. The hotel is clean and well kept and also has a very nice pool. My only complaint is that the pool has a very dangeous water slide and it doesn't seem to have any supervision and the hotel staff are tolerant of this hazard despite complaints. So watch out for the pool slide but enjoy the hotel.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for coming to Hotel San Bada and allowing us to have you with us for the period you were here in Costa Rica. Thank you for sharing your review with others here on TripAdivsor.

We are glad that our facilities and services have met all you expectations. We loved your review when stating “The San Bada hotel is literally at the gate to the park and a short walt to the beach…” All your comments are well received since they help us to improve the quality of our services.

Concerning to your comment about the pool and the waterslide by the poolside we appreciate your feedback, guest may find and read the rules for the use of the pool and the waterslide located at the waterslide start and at the pool; in addition, we recommend children use the water slide only with parental supervision.

We hope to welcome you back to our little piece of Paradise in the future.

Best wishes

The hotel is very nice and has a very good location. I had thought that the hotel was right on the beach and it was not, but it was a short walk at a convenient location. The rooms are very pleasant and comfortable. I have to agree with some of the other reviews about some bubbling toilet issues, but they were addressed immediately. The pool was very nice and the kids loved the slide. I would hesitate to say they had a hot tub, it was more like a slightly warm tub but it wasn't a big deal for us.
After long days at the beach we appreciated the restaurant. The staff there was great. Our first night we asked to see the menu. My daughter wasn't feeling very well and really wanted chicken soup. It was not on the menu. The waiter asked us what we wanted and when we told him he said," No problem, we can make that for you," and they did, and it was good. My son wanted a hamburger and so the waiter showed us the lunch menu and said we could order from that. They were so accommodating. The burger was the biggest hamburger we've ever seen ( 1 pound of meat, on a huge bun, with all the fixings, and the size of a dinner plate) and delicious, enough for 2 or 3 people. We do not speak Spanish though my daughter has had some high school classes, but it was not a problem almost everyone spoke English. The waiters kind of made a game out of helping us learn some. The 2nd night we were there they brought us a menu, but when they got to my daughter they said, your menu is in Spanish, if you need help let us know. The staff was great, we looked forward to seeing them in the mornings for the breakfast buffet, always a friendly face and a big smile. The buffet was pretty good, considering it was included in the price of the room it was much better than expected. My kids loved the omelet station.
The beach was incredible. It was of course gorgeous, but it also had everything you could want right there. We rented 3 lounge chairs and an umbrella for the whole day for $10. The same man, Alejandro offered surfing lessons which my kids really wanted. He was fantastic with the kids and they actually surfed. We liked him so much that we arranged for him to take our kids kayaking and snorkeling while we relaxed on the beach and watched. If you go, search out Alejandro, he isn't hard to find and you'll be glad you did.
We saw monkeys a few times right around the hotel, which was fun, and different lizards, an iguana and a skunk ! We took the tour of Manuel Antonio Park which was arranged at the hotel desk. We really enjoyed it. Our guide pointed out many animals that we hadn't even noticed. The tour ends at an incredible beach. Be prepared you'll want to swim there and take it all in.
Make sure you spend enough here to really enjoy yourself. We spent 4 days at this location and we didn't want to leave. Great memories and the hope of returning.

We just recently stayed 3 nights at the San Bada Hotel. All the staff were wonderful and went above and beyond. I loved that when we checked in, we were given a beverage and then taken on a tour of the facility. The staff never had a problem with us asking questions, and we used most of their advice. Also, they were so helpful in making dinner reservations and calling us a taxi. They made me feel right at home and let me go behind the desk to use the computer for our airline web checkin.
We had two first floor rooms which were fine for us. We did have a problem with the toilet in one of the rooms, but again, someone was there with in 10 minutes, of our reporting the problem, to fix it.
We loved the roof top terrace. One afternoon, it rained a lot, and it was so relaxing to sit up there and look out at the ocean. Also, the sunsets from there were so beautiful
My only complaint was that the breakfast buffet was just ok. The eggs were a bit runny, and I wish that there were a bit more sweets, like banana bread, on the buffet. With that said, I did not go hungry. We also ordered quesadillas at the pool, and they were very good. The bartenders did a great job in serving us delicious drinks.
My husband used the spa for a massage and loved it.
On the whole, this was a great family hotel, and we hope one day we can stay there again.

This hotel is literally at the gates to the national park. You couldn't ask for a better location. The rooms were spacious, the AC worked well and the grounds were well kept. The best part is that it is just a 2 min walk to the beach. Most hotels in Manuel Antonio require you to take a taxi or bus to the beach. We ate at the hotel restaurant a few times and the food was good. The front desk staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. They helped us book our day trips and offered up some great dinner suggestions. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the small issue that we had with our toilet. If by chance someone from another floor flushed their toilet, ours would bubble up. This hotel was at the end of our trip, and this little annoyance didn't bother us too much.

Room Tip: Asking for a room on one of the upper floors would most likely give you a great view of the beach from your balcony. We were on the second floor and our balcony just looked at some grass space and some houses.

We stayed here our entire week in Costa Rica and had a wonderful time. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful! Location was perfect. I did not give it 5 stars because of some technical issues like periodic hot water issues and a tv issue. It's not the Four Seasons but we didn't expect it to be so we were still very happy.

Dear Julie,

Thank you for coming to Hotel San Bada and for taking of your valuable time for writing this review!

We are happy to hear that you had a wonderful time during you stay with us. All your comments and feedback are well received. Concerning to the issue with the hot water, probably it was because since we are using greenheat (the heat generated from the a/c heats the water) it sometimes take a little longer to get the desired water temperature. Anyway, we always appreciate that you let us know about any issue in your room as we will try to speed up the heating process. Our front desk team is always willing to help you to fix any problem you may have.

Please consider this as a welcome back wish from us, we are not a Four Seasons as you said, but have for sure that we strive to offer to all our guest the best vacation experience while visiting Manuel Antonio. More important to us is letting all our guests to enjoy the charms of Manuel Antonio National Park.

Warm regards from all the Staff at Hotel San Bada
