“Beautiful home/Service improvement needed”
Reviewed 17 December 2017 for a stay in December 2017

House is beautiful, great views! Monkeys come daily to visit and there is security present in the area the Home is located. Can’t give 5 stars due to service issues. One of our rooms A/c remote controls stopped working and when we called Ricky, the concierge, he wanted to walk us through the remote to get it to work. He did mention we must have touched some buttons that he told us not to touch which was not the case. He then proceeded to argue with me about the features of the remote and was condescending in tone. When I️ had enough and became angry he sent someone to look at it. It still was not fixed did not work again and all it needed was batteries and Ricky did find later that the remote to that room was not the one he thought we had, his instructions had been wrong all along. Another guest at the Home told me she reported to him while he was in her room looking at remote there was an issue with her curtain he acknowledged but did not offer to correct it. When we arrived he told us the monkeys had figured out how to get into trash, but he had not taken any steps to prevent it from happening again stating he was going to see if it happened again. Other areas in the kitchen had been secured with special locks and cords. Monkeys did get into trash and we had a significant mess to clean up thanks to him not putting in place another safe guard. The maid service was excellent, she was very kind and friendly. Again house is beautiful we enjoyed it but would not come
Back and spend that amount of money for that level of service. I️ had researched and saw that others had excellent service we just did not experience the same.

“Awesome place for a vacation”
Reviewed 30 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

This house gave us an amazing vacation getaway in Manuel Antonio. We were transported away from city life and traffic to a nature show. We had an amazing view of the local coastline. We were regularly visited by animals, including monkeys (squirrel monkeys, white-faced monkeys, and howler monkeys), iguanas and lizards, birds (including toucans), and sloth. We got excellent service from Ricky and Valerie that help us set up tours and get groceries. They also set us up with Chef Junior to cook us amazing meals. He prepared meals we selected from a menu and added appetizers and dessert. Everything he made was awesome. Thank you all for a great vacation!!

“Amazing views!”
Reviewed 13 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Amazing stay at Casa Dolce Vita! We hope to return to this home in the future. Located in the center of town within walking distance to restaurants and the beach, if you don't mind walking. The pool was very nice and the house was wonderful all the way around! The monkeys came by daily for a visit. Ricky was also the best! Thanks for a great stay!

“Amazing house and an amazing experience”

We only had the house for 4 nights after a similar stay in Arenal. It was exactly as shown in the pictures. The bedrooms were outstanding. The second floor master was the best and the bottom floor master was also excellent with a walkout to the pool. On the third floor the bedroom was also very nice but with no view and on the 4th floor was kind of Captains Room bedroom popping out of the roof - my daughter loved it. The 3rd floor is the living area, kitchen and dining table. It is an open air design with no AC, but the bedrooms are closed with excellent AC. The living area is amazing and really a tropical experience. The bugs weren't noticeable except at night when the lights were on, but they weren't bad at all. We would sit there every day and evening and take in the amazing view which is everything you see in the adverts. Plus the wildlife! Monkeys every day and they will come in the open area of the house while you're there or not so don't leave ANTHING laying around or they will take it. If it's not edible they will drop it in the bushes outside, but you want to have to grope around in the bushes for your car keys or wallet. It was amazing to have the monkeys visit, they are capuchins, they won't harm you I don't think and you can shoo them away if they bother you. We saw squirrel monkeys, howlers and some other kind I can't remember. You'll watch them in the trees transiting back and forth. We saw Sloths only one day. My wife and daughter were sitting there looking out and my daughter was hoping for a sloth and boom she looked and there was one right in front of her not 15 feet from the house. They are really hard to see, but it was right there and she watch for hours. Pool was nice, but I thought the infiniti pool dropoff was a bit unsafe, it was about 15-20 foot drop and part of that would have been on to a security fence below. Particularly the area where you walk into the pool, not a place to mess around so I would not let kids there without some close watching. There's a similar area there the floor drops off from the dining area where there's not a proper railing if you step down from there, but otherwise it's as you would expect. There's a lot of spiral staircases, but they're well lit not the treads are pretty wide so they're only dangerous if you're not careful or drinking. The bathrooms are all very nice, the beds very comfortable. There are plenty of utensils, plates, etc. Would be a great house to entertain. For restaurants I recommend Ronny's place and well about everything. Didn't have a bad meal the whole time we were there. The snorkeling was average as was Manuel Antonio park - the guide was good, but it was a short tour although he was incredibly knowledgeable. He had us take 45 minutes at the beach which is incredibly picturesque, don't miss it. The Escape Villa staff was excellent. Jeff and Ricky kept an eye on us for anything we wanted, their office is really only a few minutes away. There are other houses on the road the house is on and there is a twin house right beside you, but I couldn't even tell it was there. When you're sitting in the house you can only see the roof of one house and the view of the forest below and ocean is outstanding. I can't imagine there's a house with a better view. My family (wife and 22 and 20 year old daughter and son) loved it. I would say with small rambunctious kids you might be a little fearful of the open design, but if anyone falls off there's probably a good chance they'll land in the pool:)-. There's security at night. I always felt really safe in the area, but there is a lot of security everywhere so petty theft must be a problem although I didn't see anything. I felt safer than many places in the states. Bottom line. House is amazing, view is amazing, the third floor is open air design (which we thought was way cool). There are plenty of amazing animals - didn't see a toucan which was a bummer, but it's monkey central (only a couple came into the house, woke up to open drawers in the morning so secure the cabinets with food and the fridge (bring some heavy duty rubber bands and they will work great or some string). Enjoy, we certainly did.

“A Dream Come True!”

This villa was everything as described and more! We couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to stay: Ocean view, jungle, wildlife, the treehouse-like kitchen & family room meaning it was open on all 4 sides with the fresh air coming in & the view of jungle & ocean; beautiful master suites....wow! Oh, did we mention the monkeys who visited every morning & evening? Did we mention the sloth above the infinity pool or the resident lizards/iguana who sunbathe by the pool? Did we mention the toucans that flew in the trees or the howler monkeys who welcomed the sun each morning? We've been to the Caribbean, Hawaii, French Polynesia, and US beach areas and we can honestly say this place's combination of jungle, ocean views, and wildlife all wrapped up in a beautiful villa topped them all! And so affordable!! We couldn't touch a vacation home like this in the US with all the amenities & ocean views! Rent this place--you won't regret it!
Tips: you can walk up a steep hill to the street where you can take a bus for under a US $1 per person. The bus does a continuous loop from Quepos to Manuel Antonio National Park, so you won't get lost & it's only few miles in each direction. It also runs every half hour. Otherwise, a taxi from your villa costs about $8 one way.
BBQ: there's a great BBQ on the premise. Why pay for an expensive meal when you have the same ocean view as the restaurants!
There are close restaurants up the hill from villa, too. The host has a very nice "guest book" with all the info on restaurants, tours, etc.
There are a lot of stairs: the villa is on a side of hill, that's why you have the views. Inside are "winding" staircases to each of the 4 levels. Also, a portion of the railing near the dining table is very short --safety warning.
Yes, monkeys will come into the kitchen--so don't have valuable laying around & tie-up the fridge--they know how to open it & the stove. They're not dangerous but wouldn't advise touching one.
Bring mosquito repellent!

Dolce Vita was a great house for the 10 people that stayed the week. Every day we were greeted by our friends the monkeys, who visit and entertained us twice a day. It is centrally located and easy to get to the beach, restaurants or the super market.

It had everything we needed and if not Ricky (property manager) would get whatever we didn't have. Ricky also helped set up the activities (catamaran, Ziplining, white water rafting) and the transportation to get to the activities.

Housecleaning did a great job in cleaning the house every day. There was every thing that you would need to cook in the kitchen and plenty of plates, glasses and silverware.

And the view is to die for. Waking up every day and looking at that view was awesome. Better than the entertaining monkeys.
