“Perfect - closest to beach, clean, cute and great price!”
Reviewed 6 February 2014

We stayed at this hotel on December 27th to 29th. We booked well in advance but didn't realized that these are the two busiest days of the entire year for this town. We are not crowd people and were worried that the hotel would be crazy. It was so NOT. It was quiet, just a few rooms. The front desk staff were super helpful and helped us organize anything we wanted to do. The room was clean and cute. The fans and air-conditioning worked and the ground were lush and beautiful for the tiny place that it was. The best part about this hotel is that it is the closest (or one of the closest to the beach and shopping area but just far enough away to not be bothered by noise crowds. Loved it and wished we had stayed a bit earlier! Tip: Get to the park gate for 7AM to avoid crowds and book your guide there (or before hand, but don't get pulled over by guides and "parking attendants" on your way to the park! Pack a lunch and plan to spend the afternoon on the beach. Best beach around is inside the park!

Room Tip: All of the rooms look great! We had top floor room and loved that, but I couldn't see a room tha...

The jungle Beach hotel is located just outside of the main downtown area in Manuel Antonio National Park. The hotel is tucked a bit away from the street and is surrounded by forest on three sides. One of our favorite things about this hotel was the easy viewing of monkeys (they roam the trees right outside the rooms and can be seen oftentimes in the morning and early evening. The rooms are comfortable, offering air conditioning and nicely refinished bathrooms. The staff was wonderful, very helpful, especially Gerson. He helped us with transportation questions, calling taxi's and general questions about the area. The hotel is located about 15 minutes (via walking) from Manuel Antonio (Amazing!!!). Some of the feedback we'd give Jungle Beach, includes the following:

1. A more diverse breakfast would be great (fresh pastries rather than boxed pound cake and bagged sandwich bread) - The packaged jelly was basically all sugar and could have easily been replaced with a better product for the same cost. Added breakfast is always a bonus when staying somewhere, but it's difficult to get by on just fresh fruit (which was great) and bread/jam.

2. The louvered windows in our room did not seem to be an efficient way to minimize electricity costs of running the a/c. We lived in Belize for a number of years in a similar climate and these type of windows just let too much air in and out to be efficient for an air conditioner. This may not be an issue during cooler times of the year however, just a suggestion.

3. If people arrive a bit early, it would be nice to be allowed into the room before the 3pm check in; this is pretty standard practice for most smaller hotels and B/B's.

Overall a good stay, wonderful staff, clean rooms, and a nice experience. Not sure what others were talking about regarding a smell. The hotel is in the tropics and jungle beach does a great job of keeping things clean and tidy.

We first discovered this hotel in 2012 and returned in 2013 and I am now making reservations for 2014. I felt totally safe leaving our things in this room while at the beach. The rooms are painted with the most remarkable murals. The bathrooms are perfect. I love sitting out side our room and watching the Howler monkeys in the trees. The rooms are back off the road enough we didn't have to hear the traffic. The breakfast is just enough and the walk into the tourist area or the beach is so enjoyable. I can't wait to get there again. My favorite place in Costa Rica, after 6 vacations.

Room Tip: The higher the room the better the view.

Well over all it was ok, basic continental breakfast with good strawberry Tea Bags.
Rooms are Ok, Funny smell (probably because of the season) but over all was good: went around town hotel hunting and these rooms were fairly good compared to neighbor hotels & the Jungle feeling when you walk out of the room was nice.
Price was perfect until we were 1 hr late for the check out and they charged us half of the full price of the room (didn't see that coming) .

It is probably one of the closest Hotels to the Beach in Manuel Antonio. The room was air conditioned and they had those big shower heads that simulate rainfall. They serve a continental breakfast outside in the mornings. I walked out of my room one morning to find an Iguana staring at me and Howler monkeys fighting in the trees above.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

It seems after reading other reviews, that they have made some improvements. The rooms nice and spacy and are cleaned daily, breakfast had some more options, although still no full continental or anything. The spot is great, because of the monkeys that pass by daily and it is so close to the beach. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. Great spot to stay if you don't want to spent to much money on a hotel (we didn't care for pool, computers and other stuff we already have at home)

Room Tip: room on the top floor facing north

My experience at the Jungle Beach Hotel was a mixed bag. It's the second hotel I've tried to Manuel Antonio. I'll start with the positives:
-minutes away from the beach by foot
-close to souvenir shops and walkable distance to restaurants
-great viewing place for monkeys and iguanas
-fairly spacious room and bathroom
-cleaned regularly
-breakfast included
-friendly staff

Negatives:
-expensive for what's offered. It cost about $30 more than the previous hotel I tried in MA but didn't offer a full breakfast or pool.
-no computers for guests to use
-no cell phone reception in this area. Obviously this has more to do with the location. Something to consider if you need to make calls.
-rooms a bit musty

Overall, I felt a bit disappointed. I didn't come to MA to stay in a hotel but for the price, I'd like to see a pool, full breakfast and maybe coffee offered throughout the day to guests. I'll probably check out a different place next time I'm in MA.
