I've read some of the reviews and have been a little puzzled. Granted we rented one of the villa's on the property that was privately owned called the Villa Titi but it's on the same grounds and has use of the pools, room cleaning, etc. The lady at the front desk was very helpful (quick traveling tip--try speaking spanish even if you'er not fluent, it's a sign of respect). I was little confused about the location beofre we went and found it to be perfectly located in terms of restaurants, and access to the park. Beaches are close and there are markets and shops with in walking distance. There were many Costa Rican's on vacation staying there, which I appreciated. Is it like a typical American hotel? Thankfully no--that's why you've gone to Costa Rica! Oh and on the gounds of the hotel we saw squirrel monkeys, agouti, lizards and tucans. It was fantastic!
