Where do I start! We worked with Irenia from Si Como No to plan our 9 day family trip to Costa Rica. She was the best. Everything she suggested was right on for our family. We arrived after spending 3 nights at Villa Blanca to the only problem of our trip. We were told we were not scheduled for the night hike that evening. However, the night hike was on our schedule. The hotel quickly called Irenia who arranged for our own guide to be Henry from the hotel for 3 days. Henry was fabulous. The kids, 10,7, and 6, loved him. We went on the night hike to see all the local nocturnal animals. The next day we went on the Manuel Antonio hike to see sloths, birds, and lots of monkeys. We took the all day Santa Juana tour to the village in the mountains. We visited the local school for 5 students and took them supplies they needed. This was a great experience for our own grandchildren to see a one room school with 1 teacher and how they learn. That tour included horseback riding, eating at the local restaurant, sugar cane making and lots of learning. We went zip lining, surfing, and rafting. The hotel has the best pool ever with a slide with two entrances, steps or climbing a hill. We asked for a kids movie to be shown 3 afternoons which they were most pleasant to arrange. And they made popcorn!
The restaurants at Si Como No were terrific, not gourmet but just fine for a family trip. The staff was very accomodating for the kids. The seafood restaurant, Claro Que Si Seafood, had the better food. Prices were fair. One night we had Steven who took very good care of us. Julio was in the Tico Bar by the family pool where the food was also good. Breakfasts were amazing. The smoothies were yummy served around the pool.
The hotel shuttle to the beach was a nice amenity. Hilda, the concierge, took really good care of us. We also ate at the airplane restaurant and at Victoria's where the pizza was really good made with a thin crust.
Rooms were very spacious. No two rooms are alike. Our kids had connecting rooms, 21 and 22, with two queen beds in each room. Ours was room 23 with a magnificent view of the ocean. It was nice to have air conditioning in the rooms.
The location was just perfect. We could walk to other restaurants and shopping.
Costa Rica is a fabulous place for a family vacation and the Greentique hotels are amazing. Thank you for this experience.

Room Tip: If you are with kids, you want your room to be next to the family pool.

Dear MissBlue:

We truly appreciate when our guests take the time to share such a sincere and positive review. It’s very gratifying each time we read a review where you and your family experienced, first hand, what Greentique Hotels' are all about, “Exceptional Costa Rica Experiences” not only regarding our hotels but also pertaining to the sustainable guided tours and activities that we recommend when you made your family holiday with us. We also would like to thank you for your nice gesture of school supplies for the school in the village of at the Santa Juana, where your Rural & Mountain tour took place with your guide, Henry. Our mission is to share the enjoyment of the "magic of nature” and that is what Costa Rica is about. Nature and the “Pura Vida” good natured “ticos" that go the extra mile to provide the best memories of your vacation. So on behalf of Greentique’s family of dedicated staff, thank you very much for your visit and we’ll hope you consider us again for a future visit.

Best regards,

My 12 year old daughter and I stayed 7 days at Hotel Si Como No and we loved every moment of it.

Highlights:
- every staff person was genuinely warm and made sure our questions were answered helped us at every turn
- we went on both the Santa Juana Tour (fantastic) as well as the Manuel Antonio Park tour with tour guide Johnny, who was knowledgeable and attentive. Was incredible how he could spot the tiniest insect or animal in the jungle and then point it out with his telescope,
- food in cafe was also great and the service equally so
- family pool and cool slide was great and an opportunity to meet other families
- 'adult' pool, underestimated as far as I am concerned, is great for laps and also has a very hot whirlpool - wow and hardly anyone used it while we were here.
We leave today and both myself and daughter are sad to leave.
Thanks to all staff for a great stay we plan on returning!

Dear ZachR01:

It was really nice to meet you and please accept our appreciation for your review. The tours & activities that Greentique Hotels’s offer are not only nature adventures but also sustainable when you decided to participate with our guides, especially at Santa Juana, where proceeds help us protect the tropical forest, their inhabitants and even watersheds that terrace down from the mountains to the Pacific Coast and help to offset our Carbon footprint.. Thank you for your recognition of our staff, including the professional and friendly atmosphere they offer our guests, offering to share with everyone the sincere effort to transmit the Pura Vida vibe rated the “Happiest Country in the World”. We always like to see our friends so we hope to see you again soon as one of our repeat customers at Si Como No, as well as Villa Blanca and Aguila de Osa Inn.

We spent three days at Si Como No, a family-friendly yet sophisticated hotel high on a jungle hillside right by the Manuel Antonio national park. The rooms are large and comfortable, with a spectacular view of the ocean. The staff care a lot about making you feel welcome and add a warm glow to the stay. The breakfast buffet is very good, with a nice Costa Rican take on omelets, pancakes, eggs over easy and other dishes along with the usual cereals and breads, rice and beans, fried plantain, and plenty of fresh pineapple, watermelon, mango etc. The coffee is terrific. For bigger meals, the hotel's two restaurants are good, with the nod going to the seafood restaurant across from the reception area. Especially in the mornings and evenings the monkeys and other creatures living in the forest add a great "soundtrack" to your experience. The adult pool area will likely be visited by some iguanas while you are swimming/sunbathing (don't worry, they may look ferocious but are not in any way dangerous).

Take the shuttle bus down to the beach and then back up to the hotel (you can walk, but it would be quite a hike).

By all means book a guided walking tour (at the front desk) of the Manuel Antonio national forest - your guide will go to great lengths to show you sloths, monkeys, toucans, and lots of other creatures in their natural habitats.

Honest evaluation, but please read to the end. We came from a 5 star resort in Arenal that was 8 years old and top notch. Pristine, private, huge rooms, meticulous grounds. So at first glance, Si Como No looked a bit worn. It sits right off the main road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, so appeared busy and lacked the 'curb appeal' of our previous hotel in Arenal. It rests, however, in a lush jungle with a beautiful view of the ocean and has a wilder feel. Comparing the 2 wasn't quite fair, sort of like trying to compare an English Garden to a wildflower garden; both beautiful, but in different ways.

We had adjoining rooms, as we were with our 3 sons, ages 14, 14 and 16. Rooms were clean and spacious, but maybe a little damp smelling. We found that a window slat was missing, causing some humidity in the room. A call to the front desk resulted in a visit from maintenance, and immediate resolution to the problem. One night after a thunderstorm with a deluge of rain, we noticed a smell of sewer gas in our rooms. This resolved spontaneously after a few hours of opening the doors and airing out via the screen doors. We did let the front desk know the next day, but I doubt it was noticeable when they came by. (We were out) We did have a house guest one evening. A small salamander was hanging out in our bathroom. But hey, it's a rainforest, right?
These may sound like negatives, but the staff and their attention to our needs and concerns were so positive that after a day we couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Beds were very comfortable, rooms were quite spacious and the balcony/patio area had great views of the ocean. Didn't use the large adult pool with bar and television, but it looked very nice. The family pool had a waterfall, a slide and excellent bar, with ample seating and lounge chairs around it. We all loved it. And the wifi was good around the pool and in the lobby area. It is spotty in the rooms, but we didn't mind heading up to the lobby or pool to use our computers. There are no televisions in the room, but that was fine by us.
The location on a busy street ended up being a total bonus. The bus stop is right next to the parking lot, and proved to be a valuable mode of transportation to Quepos or the beach. The hotel offers shuttle service to the beach on a limited basis, but the public bus is only 60 cents a person and runs every 20 minutes unit 10 pm. It was great to ride with the locals, and VERY convenient.
The restaurants had excellent food and staff, but a 5 to ten minute walk took you to several other wonderful restaurants as well. Always felt safe walking, even after dark.
We spent time in Quepos (maybe 10 minutes away by bus or taxi) to watch Costa Rica defeat Greece in the World Cup and the locals were all kind and helpful. So cool to witness the Costa Rican pride and patriotism while totally immersed in their culture. Great experience. We also had a few meals in Quepos and managed to get around just fine, even with limited Spanish.

Joel Cerdas, Francisco, Julio and Ronald were amazing bartenders and waiters, as well as several front desk folks and others whose names I do not recall. The complimentary breakfasts were a bonus and delicious, with a nice variety of food. The coffee was great! The cooks were lovely.
Si Como No is full of helpful, friendly staff who are proud of their hotel and aim to please. Never have we met so many hard working, genuine people in a hotel. You get to know them a bit, too, and it was hard to say goodbye.
Thanks to all at Si Como No who made our stay so enjoyable and memorable. If you stay there and have any issues, just talk to the front desk and I guarantee they will do all they can to make things right, or assist in anyway they can. We just loved it here! Pura Vida!!!

Dear Margie:

Greetings from sunny and friendly Manuel Antonio Beach ! We are glad that we became a very important part of your vacation. Our mission and vision to deliver exceptional Costa Rica experiences are perhaps the best reason we have so many repeat clients over the years we've been hosting folks with our “Pura Vida “ staff and the many resort amenities that the hotel has to offer. We apologise for what was a huge rain storm that overwhelmed our Grey Water treatment plant, but that’s life in the tropics and were happy it was very temporary. We will be sure to let the staff at the Rico Tico know you acknowledged them and the Front Desk and Maintenance team who are on 24 hour serve with a smile you cared too mention.

Saludos,

I stayed at Hotel Si Como No for 3 nights and it was the highlight of my Costa Rican adventure. The room was secluded and among the treetops, and I could not stop looking at the view from the private balcony. The dinner and staff were helpful with local hot spots and travel information. Hiking through Manuel Antonio and walking with monkeys and toucans will never be forgotten. Thank you, Hotel Si Como No! I hope to return soon.

Our family spent 4 nights at the Si Como No and had a great time. Remember this is winter in June for Costa Rica. So you will get rain, mostly in the afternoon or evenings. The first day we found a frog in our room, friendly guy non poisonous. The staff is great about giving recommendations for local restaurants. Five minute walk up the hill we eat at Cafe Agua Azul which was a great recommendation by the hotel staff. Great fish! Did a zip line tour with Titi Canopy and had a great guide called Monkey. Don't miss this, if you like zip lines. They do a Tarzan swing at the end, fun fun fun......

Dear Michael I:

Thank you for your review!! The tourist board changed the name from "Rainy Season" to "Green Season” about a decade ago, because most people think that it will rain for much of their stay, but actually, as you pointed out, you will get sunny mornings, with welcoming rain showers late afternoon, and ending often with a spectacular tropical sunset. The ideal program by Mother Nature to relax before a dinner on our pool terrace at the Rico Tico, or the surf and turf menu at the Claro Que Si Grill, before catching a movie in our THX movie Theater. Now that’s what we deliver in the Green Season that just a few of the good reasons to enjoy our “winter” months in tropical Costa Rica.

Thank you again for your comment and we hope to have you again as our guest in the near future here at our resort our at Villa Blanca Cloud forest Hotel or Aguila de Osa Inn near Corcovado National Park.
