This is our second trip to Manuel Antonio and our second trip to Costa Verde. This trip we chose to stay in the adult only Costa Verde II. This was a great decision. After staying at Costa Verde last August and viewing several hotels in the area, we were certain that this was the perfect place to bring our friends and family for our wedding.

The views are stunning. I could wake up to seeing the coast everyday for the rest of my life and not get tired of it. The rooms have no windows, just screens, and the sounds of the rainforest surrounding yor are relaxing and exciting, especially once you start to find out that you are hearing animals you cannot find anywhere else in the world! The staff at Costa Verde is extremely accommodating and friendly. The food is delicious, but it would be nice if breakfast was included.

We cannot wait to plan our next trip and hope to visit Costa Verde II many more times. THANK YOU for another amazing experience.

My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights at the Hotel Costa Verde at the end of May. We had a Studio in the Costa Verde II section which was fantastic. We had a jungle view, and from our balcony we saw tons of monkeys every morning! They would run around the trees, and even hopped onto our neighbors balcony at one point. I really enjoyed staying in the Costa Verde II section. It's adults only, and right next to the adults pool that has the most breathtaking view of MA National Park. It's also pretty close to the reception desk, and the Anaconda restaurant which we had a nice breakfast at every morning. We saw monkeys outside the Anaconda as well. The rooms are LARGE, and also pretty basic. There's a nice rustic feel to them though. No AC, no phone, no tv but the open screens on the walls made it feel like being in a tree house. At first I was wary of the no AC part, but the cross breeze from the screens was wonderful at night. And be prepared for the bugs, I'll be honest they are everywhere. But what do you expect in the middle of the rainforest? Reception at the hotel was also really helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend.

Disappointed is the main feeling towards this hotel. It was too large, too impersonal and the staff were rude at times.

Our room had a lovely view of Manual Antonio and if it weren't for that I would have left immediately. It also had many small ants and was very noisy. The staff booked our visit to the park the next morning with 7 other people. The guide was good but the experience fruitless in terms of seeing any significant wildlife. We probably would have seen more if we had just went to the park ourselves.

The restaurants were uninteresting and our experience in the El Avion was downright rude. The staff refused to bring extra plates and water. We lost our appetites over the treatment and left without eating (but of course we paid). No apologies were made by the staff.

As we were leaving the hotel, extra charges showed up for additional food from another restaurant - the staff researched it and found them to be in error but no apologies were made.

1.We booked in advanced 3 effiiciency rooms each one for 104$+16.39% tax.
Nobody bothered to mention that breakfast is not included.
They even hide it in their website and confirmation form. Nothing is written about breakfast.
When we came to eat breakfast, the waitress said it's included, and we can order what ever we like from the menu.
When we checked out, they add 80$ to the bill for 3 rooms!!! When I told them that breakfast is included and that even their stuff in the restaurant said it's included, they denied it and said that prices of the rooms don't include breakfast.

2. There is a big difference between the photos in their website and reality. The picutres are for the expensive rooms and the effiicency rooms are small, smelly, on the main road and with antique window aircondition that works very loudly.
We asked to move to another room. They offered us a triple room for 135$+ tax and a house with seperate entrance to a private very tiny small double bed room for 185$+tax.
We took the house, but after we used the bathroom, a terrible smell came out from the sewage which was located in (!) the small room.
We called the reception and their answer was that the maintanance is closed right now, but they will send someong to check.
After more than 15 minutes I called again and the guy in the reception who was very rude, told me that last night a family was staying in the same house but they didn't complain...
When finaly someone from the reception came and entered the room, he run away in 5 seconds!
We got another room for that night, but he mentioned that it's only for that night and tomorrow after they will fix the problem, we should move back to this room.
Even in the largest room with the balcony (the expensive one), the curtains were torn!

3. The hotel is located on the main road of Manuel Antonio and every car that pass on the only road is making noise right in your room!

At the end we were travelling at 11Pm at night to look for another hotel!
We found the Parador hotel- 4 stars, but like 5 stars, and at the end the price was almost the same, because this hotel is B&B!

  • Liked — To move to another hotel!
  • Disliked — Rudeness of the staff, Smell of mold in all rooms, un fairness

I was married at a nearby resort and needed to put up my family and friends somewhere more affordable. I didn't actually stay here - but was able to see several rooms and ate both at the hotel's cafe and the restaurant across the street. The rooms were spacious and clean and the views from some of them were beautiful. The very sad part of it all is that during the day of my wedding 2 of the rooms were broken into from the porch. Those that didn't put their valuables in the safe lost quite a lot. This happened during the day. The staff did little to help - and basically shrugged off the whole ordeal. We later heard that another wedding party was recently burgled while they were on the premise during the day - all of the bridesmaids had their rooms broken into. I know this is a common occurrence in Costa Rica - and you must take normal precaution - but it just felt like an inside job. Also - the staff at the hotel treated me and everyone we were with as if we were beneath contempt. And this had nothing to do with the theft incident. The cafe staff were the worst offenders; asking for a coffee refill felt like asking for a personal favor. At one point I needed to ask directions at the front desk and had to was made to stand and wait several minutes while 2 staff members finished a personal conversation right in front of me. The hotel itself is acceptable - there are just so many places to stay - I am certain you can find better hospitality elsewhere. I also guarantee you will find plenty of monkeys (maybe even a sloth) at any other hotel in the area!

Amazing views of the ocean from all parts of the property, large and clean rooms, helpful staff.

Good food in the restaurants and cool bar in a plane.

We only stayed here one night, but were quite happy. We stayed in room 3 of D block after reading a review on this site. the view was breathtaking! The building was off the main property and up a hill so it was quite secluded.

The room is not fancy but was rustic in nature and very clean.
We were able to get internet in the gift shop. It cost $4 for an hour.

Overall, we were very please with our stay. The price was under $100 so i thought It was very reasonable for the view we had.
