“Great location, okay hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2014

First, the location is fantastic - you can walk back and forth from beautiful Manuel Antonio Beach in about five minutes. We requested an upstairs room with vaulted ceiling based on other reviewers' recommendation -- it did seem more spacious. Electricity was off when we arrived and we had a few short "outages." Our room was near the parking lot which I wouldn't recommend because a motorcycle group was there with us and very loud one night. My biggest peeve was that they only issue one key per room - we were staying with kids so this became a nuisance. Staff was nice but not engaging - so could be a plus for some. Room was clean. Iguanas by pool and nice pool to relax at each afternoon. Breakfast begins at 7 which was late for some of the days we had early morning activities scheduled for and we went to Cafe Milagro up the street instead . . I may try something else if we go back but really the location is the biggest plus for this hotel.

Room Tip: upstairs with vaulted ceiling away from parking lot

Hello Snowsnowgirl,

Sorry your trip coincided with the group of riders who stayed on the property for one day.

We are always in greater willingness to help. As is the case of a change of room or talk to motorcyclists not to turn on their bikes after hours.

Regarding the key, it is correct that it is only one; but the frontdesk remains at your service to leave the key and remove it from 6 am to 10 pm. It is an issue that we will review.

However I am delighted that you enjoyed watching the iguanas and relax by the pool in the evenings. I appreciate these comments, always for the better.

Pura vida!

Perfect Location. Far enough away from the main drag so there is no noise/disturbance. yet only 5 min stroll to the beach or the entrance to the park.

Our room was large, spotlessly clean with plenty of towels and very efficient air conditioning.

The bar did some great meal and there were always plenty of staff about. We ate one evening in the restaurant and the meal was very good, generous portions and excellent service.

We had some medical issues and the manager was very quick to help us out, calling the hospital for updates and checking we were ok when I got back. which was very reassuring.

Great place to stay in Manuel Antonio. You can walk to the National Park and enjoy the day on the private beaches there. The hotel is also within walking distance of many restaurants and the public beach. If you'd like to go into town the public bus system can take you or the hotel will call a taxi for you and the ride is $6.

Very clean, pool, and a breakfast buffet with great selections. The dining room/breakfast buffet and bar staff were very good. Beautiful grounds.

Family run for decasdes. Cabinas are not for me but an option for a group or if you want a small kitchen. The hotel is on the other side of the road and is seperate. Great locatgion if the park or the beach i syour thing. Very close to both. Off the main road enough so you don't get the traffic noise. I'd not make a reserav ation other then easter or Christmas--the 2 worst times to go to the beach in CR--just show up and start nefotiating--they're not ever sold out. No go there--then try nearby Verde Mar and a little further Costa Verde. Deals to be had at all. Just need the nerve to do it. Cash is king.

Room Tip: North side--you'll be away from the raod and from the pool area.

The staff is super friendly. There are mini kitchens in each room which came in handy. It's a block from the entrance to the national park and a two blocks from the beach. Great location. Its a good deal for the price. The breakfast was great the first two days, by the third we were tired of the same flavor, but thats how it is a lot of places. four fruits, eggs any way you want them, sausage, rice and beans, pancakes and a few other items.
Small pool, slightly heated. One thing you should know about Manuel Antonio in general- there are not that many ATM's in my research before the trip lots of people said there are a lot of ATMs. not true here, it was a 4 mile taxi drive to the nearest one. You can pay with your CC most places but incase you've hired a drive etc that only want cash.

Surprised to see such a nice hotel right next to the National Park and beach yet tucked away off the main road in a quiet area next to its own little jungle.

The King rooms are very large and come with an extra bed in a separate alcove. I think they have only 16 rooms here but they own another hotel nearby with rooms for longer stays. The rooms are very well decorated with flat screen TV and nice bathrooms with hot water, refrigerator, coffee maker and coffee, safe, and large A/C. There's a bench outside the door.

Bar area is in back and beautiful with outdoor seating and fans and next to pool with more seating under canopies. Drinks run $6 to $8. The restaurant area is next to bar where buffet breakfast is served starting at 6 am.

David is the manager and was really great in setting up our room ahead of time for my wife's 60th birthday via our Go Tours tour guide Flavio. Had champagne, flowers, and rose pedals everywhere, plus a delicious cake!

They are just a few minutes walk from the park entrance (note it is not open on Mondays). Costs $10 ea to get in. It's even a closer walk to the beach as it stretches up and down the main street near the hotel. You can rent four lounges and two umbrellas for $8 for the day. However, be prepared to be constantly bombarded with venders. I think this is why many people pay to enter the park and use Manuel Antonio beach instead.

There are no views from the hotel because it's tucked away off the beaten path and up against it's own little jungle area. Large iguanas walking about. The pool has showers nearby plus they have other nice rooms near the office for showering and change of clothes if you need to stay longer after checking out and holding bags. Checkout is 11 am. There is no hot spa, only what they call a "cold therapy pool" next to the larger one.

It's about 4 mi to Qepos from here, though a hilly and windy road. There are plenty of restaurants nearby on the same road so no need to go that far. A taxi costs about $6 to restaurants and $8-12 to Qepos.

Room Tip: The two corner rooms 20 and 21 are excellent and can hold 3 people each.

This is a great place to stay if you are in Manuel Antonio as its set back from the noise and bustle of the main strip. The staff are all really friendly and the pool area is quiet and relaxed. Manuel Antonio is alot more developed than I had expected and this place provided a nice break from the busy crowds in the area. I wouldnt go to Manuel Antonio again as there are much quieter and therefore more beautiful areas to visit in Costa Rica
