“Tulemar, Casa Panorama South”
Reviewed 1 February 2012

My wife, son, daughter and I stayed at Casa Panorama South for a week in January. We had looked at other resorts in the area and read the reviews. Tulemar’s consistent positive comments brought us to them. A quick call to Dave Houck started the ball rolling, Dave answered all my initial questions regarding the trip and I felt very comfortable with the decision to stay at Tulemar. Just like the images shown on their site, Casa Panorama South was just perfect and we really liked the décor of the villa. Kimberly, our concierge, was the best, not to mention her sense of humor. She made us feel quite comfortable with the area and guided us with activities, shopping, and restaurants. As others mentioned, the view was breath taking. Yes, the monkeys visited, the beach was beautiful and clean, the days were sunny and temps in the 80’s. The mornings were filled with the sounds of wildlife, just loved the distant calls of the Howler monkeys. It also amazed me how thorough the maids cleaned daily as if new tenants would be coming in, the accommodation was spotless. My wife and I spent lots of time under the shade of the trees by the beach while the kids enjoyed the ocean, kayaking, and sunning. Food was great, not to mention the drinks, we always made it a point to walk up the hill to lose the calories we had gained! Often the van service would stop and ask if we wanted a ride, but we declined for the exercise. Great restaurants were just a short walk from the front entrance to Tulemar, so was grocery shopping and the bank ATMs which gave US dollars or colones. . . We all enjoyed the Canopy Zip lining experience which was equal if not better than our Zip lining experience in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. Very interesting zipping through the lush jungle. My wife and daughter enjoyed horseback riding in the mountains with a knowledgeable guide with Finca Valmy horse tours. We walked Tulemar’s trails to the beach almost daily, really enjoyed the atmosphere and monkey activity, even the sloth hanging out. I love photography so had quite a few walking adventures within and outside Tulemar to find items of interest. One being the 3 mile hike to the town of Quepos which I really enjoyed. I elected to take a cab back for 8 dollars US. At the western edge of the town small fishing boats would return with their catches and clean the fish. Herds of pelicans, gulls and some type of vultures were congregating at the fish cleaning. Great place to capture the birds in flight at close range.
This vacation was one of those where we dreaded its end. It was one where we would come back again knowing you could just relax in all its beauty and/or take on the numerous activities available. Yes, we’ll be back again and will certainly recommend and remember Tulemar as a wonderful vacation.

When traveling to a foreign-language speaking country, especially for the first time, it’s challenging to know where to stay. Skilled photography can buff even the shabbiest of lodging, as most experienced travelers can tell you! That’s why I depend on Trip Advisor reviews, and why I’m taking the time to review Tulemar Bungalows.

We stayed in Tulemar Bungalows in late January 2012, and were thrilled with the cleanliness /ambience of the accommodations. The bungalow is octagonal-shaped, glass windows (with screens) all around, tucked into beautiful foliage overlooking the crystal blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is divided down the middle into 2 rooms, a kitchenette-living room and a bedroom with a full bath toward the back. Two queen-sized beds in bedroom. Comfortable futon-sofa (for 1 adult) in living room. Refrig, microwave and coffee maker in condo. Wireless internet access was undependable, despite attempts at repair. However, Dave and Shay at the front desk were most accommodating and permitted us access to their computers for brief email communication. US Verizon Wireless call/text capability.

The beach is amazing, soft and sandy, in contrast to the rocky beach of Manuel Antonio National Park. Statements about the steepness of the drives and walks are true, yet so are the reassurances of the shuttle bus if needed. Personally, our family enjoyed being quickly whipped into shape by the hills! Swimming pools were open and lovely, except one closed for repair.

We booked through www.4tulemar.com. 800 number. Spoke (English!) directly with Dave for reservations. Shay, our personal concierge, was a lovely, ever-present assistant. Easy reservations, fantastic experience. I highly recommend this one.

So glad you loved your Tulemar Bungalow......sorry about the wireless internet.....it does seem to come and go at times....(we blame it on the monkeys!).....but we always have an extra notebook and wireless connections at our office.....just in case....Shay (your personal concierge) enjoyed serving you and assisting with your stay.....everyone loves our beach too.....right here at the resort.....lounge chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, boogie boards, towels, food/beverages and of course David and Danielle to take care of you.....hope to see you back!

We just spent five days at Tulemar and can't rave enough!!! The grounds are beautiful and staff wonderfully trained & just plain nice!! We stayed in one of the bungalows...the view was great. The bungalow was very comfortable with floor to ceiling windows. Two mornings we woke to monkeys running across our roof...which was treat to see them leaping into the trees. There is a very convenient shuttle system to take you to the beach, around the resort and to close by restuarants. The beach is simply beautiful--with great footing, gentle waves, and comfortable seating. Great having the beach bar right there if you want to have lunch or refreshments on the beach. David and Danielle--thank you for taking such great care of us.

Room Tip: We were in bungalow 16 which was nicely located. Provided privacy and yet ease to the parking lot t...

Thanks for the great review.....we're so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us.....the bungalows are really fun.....tropical, rustic design.....great ocean views and lots of wildlife.....I bought one of the bungalows and live in it year round.....when the monkeys run across the roof....they almost sound like a cattle stampede! David and Danielle at the beach are wondeful too! Nothing like a cheeseburger and cold drink under the palms with your feet in the sand! Hope to see you back!

we have just returned to Canada from a wonderful two weeks in Costa Rica, we spent one week at the Casa Panorama and it was an amazing holiday. Every minute of every day was a hundred per cent perfect Vacation. We were pampered by Kimberley, she totally looked after every detail of our stay at the Casa and was so very friendly and helpful. Vanessa, the young lady who did the housekeeping in our Villa was absolutely wonderful, she kept the Casa spotless. The private beach was a treat, free kayaks, towels, chairs, umbrellas, also there is a beach restaurant with the best food and drinks.

The view from our balcony is the best that you can imagine, and the house itself is so quiet, what a relaxing and wonderful vacation, we will be returning in 2013.

Me and my fiancee stayed at Villa Mot Mot for half a week in January of 2011. Diego was very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed and setting up excursions and tours. He even invited us on a private boat ride. The monkeys came right up to our balcony. The beach was quiet and we were able to walk right to it.

My family and I just returned from a too-short three-night stay at Tulemar. We are a family of 7 - four adults and three children. We had the pleasure of staying in Villa Mot Mot and had the whole house. This is a beautiful villa that has a wall of windows encompassing around 3/4 of the unit. It has a great kitchen with everything you need including a basket of fruit welcoming you. Remember to bring coffee to make in your coffee maker. I miss Costa Rican coffee! The best thing about the unit is the deck. We spent almost all of our time there. We found ourselves hurrying to return from activities just to sit on the huge deck with the beautiful views. My poor kids, they would ask to go to the beach or pool but I couldn't bring myself to leave the deck! Tulemar has a nice pool and beach. Everyone at the property goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. They can't seem to do enough for you! We had wonderful service from our concierge Diego and his wife Vanessa. They were always asking what they could help us with. Can they arrange transportation, offer suggestions for meals, etc. Vanessa was so helpful before we arrived arranging a tour and transfers to San Jose. She was equally helpful while we were there. Bill took us to the grocery store, changed tour reservations and answered millions of questions. Kudos to the staff at Tulemar! You made us feel like family, not customers. This was our second time in the area and first to Tulemar. If we return, there will be no other option but Tulemar. They have a beautiful property, nice beach with a beach bar, great service from EVERYONE and a great location. What else do you need?

Villa Mot Mot is one of our most popular villas in Tulemar, for just the reasons you mentioned.....the deck....the views.....the personal concierge service provided by Diego and his staff........tropical, rustic luxury living.......it is hard to get away from the deck/views.....but don't miss our beach......warm waters and jungle setting......free kayaks, boogie boards, lounge chairs and umbrellas too.....plus food/beverage service! Hope to see you back soon....

My husband and I recently spent our honeymoon in Costa Rica, and stayed at Tulemar. We could not have been happier! The grounds at Tulemar are beautiful - and THE BEACH! Tulemar has their own private beach. They also have kayaks and boggy boards for the guests to use.
The bungalows and villas also come with their own concierge - Diego and Bill were great! We would just call one of them up if we needed anything - a ride into town, a tour booked, dinner recommendations/reservations, etc. They were very helpful!
We cannot wait to go back to Costa Rica and stay at Tulemar - maybe next year for our anniversary?!

Room Tip: We stayed at Villa Mot Mot lower level - perfect for a couple!
