This was a last minute trip to the beach on a weekend. For sone reason, GPS made us believe the hotel is located by the beach. So. It all started wrong when we arrived to an empty lot. After contacting the hotel by phone, we got the right address and managed to drive to the place. It is far from the beach and embedded at the top of the hill of Manuel Antonio. That is not necessarily bad, if you were looking for jungle and view, but we wanted to simply walk out the door to the sand and the ocean. The first room assigned was disappointing. Located on the second floor, the ceiling was too low, the TV set was made circa 1985 -we guess- and the bathroom lacked windows and A/C...it was a claustrophobic place. We asked for a change of room the next day, and they assigned us to the one room that should be the standard to follow: 3rd floor, high ceiling, comfortable mattress, and a bathroom with a window! (Is that too much to ask when at the beach?) They have a small restaurant, where the crew tries their best to give you a good experience. They are however quite simple in techniques and ingredients, producing good tasting food, nothing spectacular or special. Not a place where I will go again, because of the location so far from the beach, but it served the purpose.

Room Tip: Ask for the one room on the third floor that stands alone to the right. It is the best at the place.

I am really sorry that it was not clear that we are not at the beach. We are on a 3 acre lot that is in the jungle with an ocean view. I am sorry if somehow you got a different impression. I understand there is a GPS problem, that I will report to Google again, which might have made you think we were beside the National Park! It is easier to find us by looking for "Hotel California Road" than "Hotel California", which I think is strange, Anyway, I am sorry you were disappointed, I understand your disappointment and I hope that you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Costa Rica.

We arrived at the hotel for a short break of 3 days with 2 children age 2 and 7. The hotel reception were very accommodating and after an initial problem with the key and a change of lock we had access to our room which had a wonderful view of rainforest and the pacific ocean.
The pool was used extensively by the 7 year old and the bar staff Gilberto and Jess kept the two year old amused and the Adults in our party supplied. Gilberto was extremely attentive and pleasant and made the most amazing cocktails. Happy hour 4 till 6. I met Robbie the owner and Thor her Labrador and enjoyed an evening of interesting conversation about the Costa Rican attitude to life and how she had a local foundation that she supported for children with disabilities.
The group of people at the hotel when we stayed were friendly and entertaining especially my new found friends Troy and Faun from Miami.
Manuel Antonio national park had amazing beaches and animal life we saw everything but monkeys which was remedied on our walk from the bus to the hotel. Why we did not see monkeys we are unsure of as everybody else saw them.
There are some good tourist shops on the walk to the entrance and they are happy to haggle and have some interesting things to sell.
Talking to other travellers there is loads to do here such as white water rafting , canopy zip lines surfing etc which we were unable to do due to the age of the children. We still had a good time.

The hotel was clean and tidy though a little updating is needed. It was an extremely relaxing place and will come again next time I am in Costa Rica.

The bus by the way is easy to get it is at the bottom the driveway and costs 285 colonias about a dollar and takes you to Quepos or Manuel Antonio and any stops in between.

Tip get a room on the second or third floor to get brilliant views from balcony. Pura Vida.

Room Tip: Views from the higher floors are fantastic to the pacific and to the rainforest

Thanks for the nice review. It was a pleasure having you here and meeting you. I am glad you felt comfortable and well attended, Gilberto is a master! I guess you can see my priority in the way things work here. My goal is that you feel extremely comfortable and feel some real "pura vida", that you get to know warm and friendly people who will do whatever in their power to make you part of our family, help you enjoy what is most special about our area. Costa Rica is about family, if you feel like part of ours, we have accomplished everything we set out to do. We are doing some upgrading in the upcoming year inside the rooms. Right now we are focused on some new things outside that will make life for our guests more relaxing!

Thanks so much for your kind words. Our goal is to make you part of our extended friends and "family". We want you to enjoy a relaxed, comfortable experience of what real Costa Rican life is like, it is about family, and family here is not necessarily blood relatives. I came here a long time ago, and I stayed because I felt part of this huge family of people that are Costa Rica. The nature is spectacular and the natural beauty, but the true beauty of Costa Rica is the people. All my best memories of traveling are about the people I met all over the world. I am glad we are on your map of places where the people were special!

Drive up to hotel was crazy, try not to go at night and use your GPS. Otherwise, the hotel was nice. Room was beautiful and had a gorgeous view! Hotel had WiFi (intermittently) in front desk area, pool, and restaurant. Restaurant was delicious and had great drink specials. Hotel breakfast ok, not as large offering as at other places but still had more than enough to eat.

Beautiful hotel with plenty to see and do. the hotel has a wonderful view from the common area, with excellent breakfast and dinner by the pool. The common area is nice, but there is not a lot protection from the elements. The same goes for the rooms facing the road. Other than that, I'd say that it's a good hotel if you want to see the park and the surrounding city.
