A group of 8 of us stayed here over the weekend after researching the web for nice clean hostel. What we found at Hostel Plinio was a hidden gem. The property itself was beautiful. About 8 minutes by taxi from Quepos and a 15-20 minute bus ride to Manuel Antonio, it's close to both towns and the bus stop is about a minute away. The property itself is quite unique. Our "room" was 3 stories high with the living room and bathroom on the bottom floor, beds on the 2nd (bare bones but it's all you need) and little patio on the third floor with a really beautiful view. This hostel feels like your sleeping outside. A very tranquil place to be. Lots of nature!! The staff/owners are also super hospitable and welcoming. Alicia is awesome and gives great suggestions and advice. She's a bit of a superwoman :) Jeff, who owns the restaurant next door is also very friendly and has fun stories. The pool is a welcome relief as well when you've seen all in Manuel Antonio, or come from a long hot day in MA and want to relax in the pool. Great find!!! Plus for the cost, getting a an amazing deal. Plus I heard there might be a yoga/dance studio opening within the property in the near future which is a huge bonus!! Would definitely come back!

Room Tip: They are all pretty good from what I've heard and seen.

I stayed at Hotel Plinio for 3 nights in April of 2013. Me and my friends checked out 3 other places before arriving to Plinio. Nothing compares. When you walk up to Plinio, it just feels right. We were greeted warmly by the owners Corey and Alisha. The place itself is huge and open and cools down very nicely at night. Our room had multiple balconies and we had it all to ourselves for just $13 a night per person. There are tons of places to hang out and get to know the other guests. And as amazing as the location and facilities are, it's really the people and the atmosphere that make the place. And that is where Corey and Alisha come in. They make Plinio what it is. There aren't really words that do it justice so I guess you'll just have to experience it for yourself. There is nowhere better to stay in Manuel Antonio!

I checked out 3 other hostels in Manuel Antonio before coming to Plinio. I was afraid at first because it clearly states it doesn't have AC or wifi in the rooms. I am so glad I made it to Plinio. This hostel is seriously the best in town! The rooms are huge and open air (while still keeping the bugs out) with plenty of fans so I actually got cold at night and turned one of the fans off. The wifi works great on the main level which is perfectly fine and didn't hinder me at all. The reason why the wifi doesn't work in the rooms is because the rooms are three stories and have incredible views of the ocean and sunset!

The best part however is the hosts, Alisha and Corey. They went out of their way to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves and were more than willing to take people to awesome surf spots and offer other suggestions for fun things to do. We had nightly jam sessions where Corey shared some sweet covers and originals. If you're traveling through Manuel Antonio or Quepos you need to check out Plinio. If you're looking for a fun, hostel feel, with great amenities and the best hosts, you'll be stoked you did.

I loved staying here! After staying at a lot of really cramped hostels, Plinio was a relief. The shared dorms are each 3 floors and are really open and airy with fans so I never felt too hot. The mattresses were a little thin though :/ It's nice that there is a restaurant right there and a pool. The kitchen is really nice too with everything you need. It's not the best location though - it's a little bit in the middle of nowhere, but you can take the bus down to Manuel Antonio and up to Quepos. Also, I wished that the wifi reached inside the rooms. But overall, for $12 a night, this place is luxurious. And SO CLEAN. The owners are so awesome and really want to make sure that you have a great experience. And Pipa's pretty fantastic too :) Definitely the place to go!

Plinio was recommended to us by another traveller and we were not disappointed! large, cool dorm rooms, a pool and on site restaurant. fresh fruit and bread breakfast, all for $12 per night! bus to manuel antonio park or quepos comes past every half hour and costs just 50 cents.

a great hub from which to explore this amazing area!
