Great place. Worth going to if your in the Quepos or Manuel Antonio area! Large portions and drinks were great too.

Big group of 6 hungry adults - we had made reservations just in case.
Our table was set and ready as was our server who did a great job over the course of our meal.
My observation of local restaurants is that most don’t bother with ambiance or decor - rather focus on location or menu.
El Lagarto has taken the time and energy to create a concept that brings a unique menu together with a interesting food preparation/ cooking idea! I enjoyed watching the chef/cook systematically prepare our complicated meal! Fun. Note the numerous photos on this Trip Advisor site to see the cooking set up and cool ambiance!
Our meals were top quality, portions logical and presented very nicely. Tasty, lots of cool sauces and spices used to enhance the proteins and sides.
ONLY possible drawback would be the $$$ - that being said, I have yet to find any “bargains” here in Costa Rica- price you pay for paradise?????

This spot came highly recommended by a colleague with a home in the area. The view and vibe is great but our steaks were average. Several of the steaks were underdone while others were overdone based on how they were ordered. A steak restaurant ought to nail this! I'd definitely try this restaurant again as we may have caught them on an off night, but we did enjoy the space and it was very central to both Quepos and Manuel Antonio.

They have 2 for 1 cocktails, that is just heavenly. Specially the Mojito and piña colada. The entrance is a little bit shady, but the place in itself it's quite cozy.
Next time I'll come for dinner

The food was good but portions were small and it was pricey for what you got. Service was pretty slow but friendly. It was interesting watching the food being prepared with their wood fired grill and the chute leading down to it from the wood burning area above it.
