La Posada Private Jungle Bungalows
Ranked #18 of 46 Hotels in Manuel Antonio
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 30 March 2014

Accepts credit cards. I paid $100/night for a single. Right next to the entrance to Manuel Antonio. (N.B.: Manuel Antonio has a couple great beaches with some trails to hike...but it is EXTREMELY touristy. This is not a real "national park" experience. Go to Corcovado for that.) Great staff, great American owner. Couldn't be nicer people, full of good advice. Bungalows are ultra-comfortable--beds were the most comfortable I experienced in Costa Rica. Great A/C, plenty of hot water in the shower. Fridges and freezers in the rooms. Microwaves in the rooms. Comfortable porches. Pool and Jacuzzi. Ice machine out by the pool. Included breakfast buffet. Free internet and international phone calls. Afternoon pizza special--two bucks for a slice of pizza and a drink. Does dinner three nights a week if enough guests reserve...

There are a trillion hotels in Manuel Antonio...and if I ever went back, I'd stay here again. Just a perfect place...

La Posada has it all! Friendly service, best location, beautiful garden setting, wonderful pool area, with noodles and boogie boards to use. Free hot breakfast, pizza lunch, plus dinner & movie 3 nights a week for minimal cost. From the moment we arrived they were attentive to our every need. Right at the gate to the National Park, 5 minute walk on a path, to main beach. Computer to use, free magic jack phone calls to US, movies & books to borrow, monkeys visiting. Mike and his staff really know how to treat everyone as friends.

What a stunning little piece of heaven on earth. The staff are incredibly friendly, the grounds are beautiful, the rooms are clean, and the inn could not be situated in a better place. We are so happy and blessed to have been able to find and book this place. We will absolutely book this place again on another one of our Costa Rican adventures.

Sitting at the pool watching the kids enjoy one last swim before heading out, thought I'd take a moment to post a review. This is your best choice in Manuel Antonio. The location is perfect, being 10 steps from the entrance to the national park, and about a 3-5 minute walk to the beach. All the staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast and their 3-times weekly dinners are fantastic. The room is very clean and comfortable and the grounds and pool, while small are just right! Don't look anywhere else, stay here, you will be happy you did so.

Returned on Wednesday from a 5 night stay here. Agree with all other recent reviewers- had a fantastic stay. The little extras provided are so service-oriented... free movies for the kids to watch at night with popcorn in the room, great breakfasts, free calls to Canada and USA on a provided phone, great suggestions for local restaurants, excellent Wifi everywhere... the list goes on. We stayed in the monkey room for 2 nights, but it was a bit crowded with our 15 and 17 yr old sons, so we switched over to the 2 bedroom villa once it was available. The villa was so large and just exceptional!! Although MA park is well worth a visit, I actually preferred our visit to the Rainmaker, about 30 minute drive from the hotel... check it out if you have a car!

We picked La Posada based on the reviews and very impressed with the service and help we received from Mike (owner) before hand.
The property is literally next door to the National Park, which means the price (we paid $120 per night for a family of 4) is fantastic. The bungalows are very clean and well furnished with two double beds, tv, dvd player, wifi, coffee maker, fridge, hair dryer and torch. The shower has a seat in it. We loved the feel of the bungalows, with straw roofs and a hammock at the front.
The pool is large enough for the number of properties, but is a bit deep. The little touches are nice, such as a pack of pop corn in the room for us to make, buckets, spades and flippers to borrow as wel as dvds and the fact staff will save you time by getting bus tickets for you.
Food here is nice, pizza is available in the day very cheaply.
La Posada also have a great scheme where they share the commission for trips with you and have various deals such as discounted surf lessons available for guests.
We were lucky to see monkeys and the deer in the grounds.
Manuel Antonio is a great area, I'd definitely recommend it.

Everyplace we went in CR. They said Manual Antonio is the place to go for beach but not to commune and see jungle animals, birds etc. They were right.
Hotel next to National park entrance. Short walk to lots of restaurants and bars

6 cabanas and a 2 bedroom small house. On a small property right next to a very busy national park. BUT once you step inside gates you feel you are on your own island!! Lushy planted, small but clean pool and Jacuzzi.

Even the monkeys from the park come on the grounds and visit frequently. As do other wildlife.
Cabanas well laid out with microwave and freezer refrig with armoire and storage. We had a king bed with a couch and coffee table. Out friends wanted the 2 Q but no room for couch and coffee table. AC and TV worked well. Lots of hot water. Very clean.
Dinner 3x a week for $7.50 and lunch for $2-very very good pizza or ham and cheese on baguette and cup soda.
the staff will arrange tours for you and you get a discount (they forgo their fee)
We took a mangrove boat tour- very much fun and ate at Tico owners house with home cooking.
We got a guide and took a tour of Manuel Antonio. He tried very hard and we saw some things. Really that was like being on a pedestrian walk street. though Lots of clean bathrooms and showers. Great beaches- one with a coral reef and pristine white. Beware white faced monkeys like to steal things if you leave alone on beach to swim. I think if this the only jungle you saw in Costa Rica you would be missing most of what is there.
Ocean a short walk from hotel thru vendor alley- but all friendly.
AWESOME beach (warm water 86+). Many people but did not seem crowded in water. MOst people gone by 3PM as shuttling from hotels high up on hills. You can rent chairs and umbrella but we swam either early or late due to the heat and sun.
Hotel Owner and personal extremely nice and helpful.
I can see why people come back and spend a week or two every year at this hotel.

Room Tip: Pick a 2 Q and no sitting area inside room but hey 2 rocking chairs, hammock, table and chairs on ea...
