the word "luxury" in the name is unjustified. In 206 , and probably others of the description "junior suite", only a backpacker could regard what is provided as luxury. there is nowhere to store your clothes, toiletries etc. Correction; there is a broom cupboard. literally. there was a broom in it. there are also a couple of vegetable racks, taking roughly 50 per cent of one persons clothes. under these racks, some lunatic put the safe. on the floor. a contortionist might find that acceptable. when you are over 60, it is an insult to be left with that as secure storage. the word "suite" implies a sitting room separate from the bedroom. not here. one room serves as bedroom, siting room, and kitchen Why a kitchen? who books a luxury villa and expects to cook? who wants the sink and micro wave next to their bed. it is pitiful. the staff are lovely. the fault lies with the bean counters in Chicago, who represent the owners, and the cheese paring budget allocated to construction of these miserable hovels.

This is a difficult one . This guest was told repeatedly before booking that the property was very steep and anyone reading Tripadvisor would know this fact. Before we had even arrived at the room the guest was telling us it was unacceptable and asking for other accommodations. We did everything we could, including moving them to another unit nothing worked. We offered to refund their money and then drove them to 5 different hotels in the area. They simply wouldn’t go; they stayed with us the full term of their stay and we did everything we could to make their stay pleasant. The Staff

We just returned from MA and stayed in Villa 411. There were 10 of us from Grandpa & Grandma down to the 2 yr old. This was a fantastic trip! MA area has so much to do and having the Villa made it so comfortable! We were right above the family pool, Michael the shuttle driver was always prompt in picking us up for the beach rides, to collect our luggage, etc. The spa was very nice. There was so much of the property we didn't even get to see as we were only there 4 nights. We will HAVE to go back!
The villas are placed very close together but somehow you feel very private. The deck view of the sunrise & sunset was amazing! The jacuzzi was so nice after a day of hiking (it takes about 45 min to heat up but don't turn it on before you leave for dinner as the thermometer must be set very high---it get's too hot).
BRIAN was our concierge. It seems like we were always "calling Brian"--our mantra for the stay.
He arranges tours, shuttle, tells housekeeping we only want towel service, and so much more. He is a major reason that our stay was so enjoyable.
This is so long it is almost a Trip Report--sorry but there is so much about this place rave about.
The monkeys on the deck in the morning thrilled the kids & scared the moms ;o)
PLease ask if I can be of any help with further question.

Thanks for the great review; we look forward to your return! Yes the 2 and 3 bdrm premium villas are perfect for families and large groups traveling together. Next time you’ll have to do a private chef for the whole gang… Good point on the Jacuzzi, in fact there is a little placard that states it takes an hour to heat up. Dinner with a big group is usually more than an hour so unless you’re a lobster you won’t be getting in the Jacuzzi when you get back, yikes=) Thanks for the” trip report”, Pura Vida! The Staff

The resort was absolutely beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. Watched the most amazing sunsets every night from our villa porch while the monkeys came for a play! The private beach was nice - just be careful of the tide in the late afternoon. There's a great snorkelling spot you can kayak to directly from the beach. This is the spot all the tour groups frequent. There have been many reviews on the poor service at the beach restaurant, but we found the staff very friendly and the food was excellent. You're on holidays, so sit back, have a cocktail and enjoy the views while you wait!
The resort and villas are set on a steep hill and quite spaced out. Many people use the transportation provided to access the beach and pools, but we preferred to walk. There are some lovely trails with waterfalls and howling monkeys!
There are many restaurants within walking distance. We would recommend the resort and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 305 had a great view of the ocean, was very private and closest to the beach and a pool.

My family just traveled to CR for the first time and stayed in Buena Vista Villas. It was so gorgeous and first class. The people are so nice and always willing to help. Brian; the concierge was so helpful and always willing to do anything we needed. He even checked on us on his day off! Daniella at the family pool bar was so kind and patient with us and made wonderful drinks for the kids and adults. All the staff was so amazing! We had the most beautiful view and the wildlife was incredible. Monkeys playing on our porch and drinking from hot tub! Sloth hanging right off porch! We loved every minute of the week and would definitely stay there again! We miss it already!

Our room was a 2 BR Premium villa #401 - at the very top of the property. We stayed with our 2 boys in this gorgeously decorated 2 story home with a new granite kitchen, huge terrace with hot tub and unbelievable view (we were told best view here). The sunsets were out of this world!

One amazing thing we didn't know about in advance was that it has it's own washer dryer! We were so excited to have this - after 4 very wet adventure days at Arenal. Was great to have clean dry clothes again!

Eduardo (a buena vista staffer) was there to help us every step of the way with great restaurant recommendations, reservations, answering all our questions, etc! The hotel is on a very steep hill - so you need a lift to the pool and beach. The staff is there within minutes to give you a lift within the hotels grounds.

The private beach at the hotel is beautiful (although i would not recommend the restaurant down there). They have boogie boards and kayaks free for use.

The location of the hotel is great - you can walk to many of the best restaurants in town.

Truly a memorable stay - especially after the monkeys finally showed up!

Room Tip: Our villa #401 was great!

Thanks for the nice review and I’m glad the monkeys did their job and visited! The washer and dryer are features of the Premium Villas and a wonderful thing to have considering how easy it is to get dirty in Costa Rica. Thank you Eduardo for your quality work and thank you PickyNYer246 for your review. Pura Vida, The Staff

First; I want to say the property could not have been any nicer. EVERYTHING is top shelf, the actual Villa itself, the view, the location in proximity to activities available.

The staff could not be any more accomodating. Every member was curteous as if they were a partner in the ownership and wanted you to enjoy every second of your stay. The frequently called drivers were Johnny-on-the-spot. The servers at the bar never bothered you to sell you a drink, but all I had to do is get their attention and one was there in an instant - every time. I'm not sure who was the concierge if there was one, because they all were! Never was I directed to see someone else with a question or for a recomedation..

The property is on the side of a cliff or mountain that ends at a beautiful sandy beach, so yes if you could find yourself walking up a steep incline. But if you do, it's because that's what you want to do. They swiftly will pick you up downhill from your villa, and drive you up... When you are coming up from say the beach, they drive you to a spot above your villa and you walk down to your unit.

Beautiful place with a great staff and a lot of activities that just plain require a WELL DONE
