A group of four of us stayed here for 5 nights in an Oceanview suite with adjoining oceanbreeze room. Both rooms had incredible views of the ocean. The bathroom and balcony were definitely the highlights of the room. The included breakfast was a bonus and the food was actually good. The staff was amazing. Golf cart service was always quick and the drivers very friendly.
We chose this place because of the beach location and the potential for wildlife sightings, neither disappointed. We saw iguanas, monkeys, Jesus Christ lizards, halloween crabs, a boa, and hermit crabs by the millions! Our building was very close to the more secluded beach, while the surf could be rough at times, the water temperature was perfect! Having tropical drinks under a palm tree while listening to the surf, does it get any better than that?
My husband surprised me with a vow renewal ceremony on the far beach, the hotel staff were very helpful to him and I was truly surprised, if not totally confused! It was something I'll remember forever. We then had dinner for two on the other beach, very romantic lit by candles and torches.
We ventured out of the resort at lunchtime (direct sun and oh so hot) on foot, definitely have to be physically fit to do that but the view from the restaurant we ate at made it all worthwhile (see my review of Aqua Azul). We also walked back from dinner in town (Sancho's-reviewed also)...extremely dark, thankfully we had a cell phone to provide a little light).
This place was incredible, due to the limited number of rooms, you really feel like you have the place all to yourself. We had both lunch (on the beach!) and dinner at the resort, a couple of times and found the food and service to be perfect. I can't say anything negative about this place, but I would caution people that the hills are quite steep throughout the property.
We also ran on the beach all the way to Manuel Antonio, it is almost exactly one mile.
