The staff at this hotel were great. Some of the nicest people of any country I have visited. The view from the room and the balcony were amazing. Room needs some fresh paint. Staff kept room clean. Walking around the hotel was an adventure with all the wildlife. Loved the monkeys!

Dear Mdijohn1101,
how are you? A warm hello from Manuel Antonio and Arenas del Mar. Thank you very much for your Tripadvisor review. We are very happy to hear that you had such a great vacation and got to experience the great wildlife at and around our resort in the rainforest. How flattering to hear that you consider us to be some of the nicest people in Costa Rica... We just love to serve our guests here and make sure they have the best vacation ever. We are very honored to have so many people visit us from all around the world. Thank you for the feedback on the paint. You are right, there are parts of the hotel that need a bit of updating. But the good news is that we are 100% on it and in a few months the hotel will be like new again. Many changes have been implemented (new bedroom furniture, new bathroom furniture, remodelation of Mirador restaurant, welcome pavillion, etc). We are now working on the suite living rooms and Playitas restaurant. But as you mention in your review, we do have the most amazing views and direct access to two wonderful beaches. So we hope that service, location and great amenities overshadow one or two lingering maintenance flaws for a couple more weeks. Thanks again for your great review and we hope you are able to come back soon and see all the changes for yourself. Saludos,

The staff at this place is nothing short of phenomenal. i have traveled a lot and these people are incredible. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is the best it can possibly be. I too, saw more wildlife on the property than i did in Manuel Antonio National Park. the beach is beautiful although the surf is rough. There is a major issue with the undertow at this beach. if you are a beach person, i would recommend relaxing on the beach and jumping into the nearby pool to cool off. i am not a big fan of costa rican food, but like the food at this resort the best (also stayed at Peace Lodge and The Springs). I had an ocean view suite. it was a splurge, but if you can swing it, do it. The room needs updating and the furniture, moldings, etc. are very tired, but the view is stunning. the balcony wraps around the entire suite, and there is a jacuzzi on the balcony. Overall, a great stay thanks to the staff!

I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Arenas Del Mar. The staff gets to know you by first name. They treat you like family and there is definitely an intimate and quaint feel about the resort. Our family consists of my husband and I along with a 21 year old daughter and 16 year old son. At first the kids had a hard time relaxing and enjoying the slower pace of the nature and beauty of Manuel Antonio, but it didn't take long for them to fall in love with the place. Despite the fact that it rained most days, we explored the area thoroughly. We went into the town of Quipos which as a cultural experience for the kids because it is not really a tourist trap. No tourist shops or tourist restaurants. It is a real fishing town and a real cultural experience. We enjoyed the farmers market and just walking the streets. We also enjoyed walking the beach to the national park(long walk) and exploring the area. My husband and son booked a private deep sea fishing trip via Areas Del Mar and had a wonderful day catching huge Marlin and Sail Fish. My daughter and I spent that same day exploring the National Park. We did lots and lots of walking on the beach and trails through out this trip, but for those who do not wish to explore the trails, there are beautiful shady palm trees to park under and relax and read a book.

The grounds are breathtaking and the wildlife is plentiful. We saw lots and lots of monkeys and sloths. The whole resort is very peaceful and quite. Almost felt like camping except instead of a tent we went back to a beautiful villa each night and were pampered by the staff for our every need. Very hilly so if you walk, be prepared for steep inclines, but they have golf carts and staff to drive you if you do not want to walk. We enjoyed walking and getting our exercise. Can be slippery so be sure and bring slip proof shoes and rain jackets if going during the rainy season.

Food was good for Costa Rica. I'm not a huge fan of tico food in general but food at the resort and the neighboring resorts and restaurants was first class and as good as you will find in Costa Rica. The resort will drive you to any restaurant and pick you back up afterwards, so again. First class service. We ate about half the time at Arenas Del Mar and about half the time at other places. We would definitely return to Arenas Del Mar. If you are looking for a fast paced, high action resort. It is not the place for you, but if you are looking to explore nature, hidden beaches, and be surrounded by beauty and wildlife it is a blast.

Like I said, when we arrived our kids were a little disappointed that it was not like a fast paced high action resort. But within a day they fell in love with everything the beautiful nature and everything there was to explore.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms have the best view! I believe we had room 503 and it was superb with a hot tub and...

Dear Johndo1,
greetings from sunny Manuel Antonio. Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review about your stay in "paradise". We are especially happy about all the great things you said about our staff and how attentive, respectful and service oriented you found them. We genuinly like to serve our guests and show them the best that Costa Rica has to offer. We are happy that you had the chance to visit the waterfalls with our nature guide Ersel. This is a tour that should not be missed. We hope to have you and your friends back for another stay soon. All the best.

We recently spent 4 glorious days at the Arenas del Mar Beach Resort and can't say enough good things about it; from the moment we arrived to the moment we checked out everything was PERFECT!! The hotel is built around nature (we actually saw more wild life in the property than at the Manual Antonio National Park) with 2 beaches, one of them small and very private with its own restaurant, 2 nice pools, great accommodations; the food was delicious as well, but what made our stay even more wonderful was their stuff. They are truly the best!! their attention to every detail, their curtsey, their willingness to help, to make sure that you have an unforgettable experience is incomparable. We definitely will go back!!! Thank you Arenas del Mar.

Because We wanted to have a restful vacation we decided to stay in one resort for two weeks and are happy to say with our choice we had no regrets. The resort is breath taking and the staff was outstanding. I know there are many places in the world to see and experience but we will definitely return to Arenas del Mar in the very near future.

There is so much right at Arenas Del Mar - first thing I noticed when we walked into our suite was a tree obstructing our ocean beach view, I love how they built this hotel around nature- they actually cut out slightly our balcony to be sure the tree could continue to thrive - to say this family holiday was one of our top 3 is so true. My wife, son (8 years old), daughter (6 years old) and daughter (3 years old) loved this place - we stayed for just 4 nights in Manuel Antonio. The entire team at Arenas Del Mar was exceptional - Alex, Christian, William, Elaine, Gabriel, Aricel were great to our family too ... the lower beach was perfect in the early mornings, very calm and because there are not a lot of guests at ADM at any given moment (even at full capacity this last week) it really felt like we were the only ones on the beach every morn til about 11AM!!! The hotel may be attempting to be carbon neutral with all the effort put into recycling all, this was a big plus for us. Reco highly morning wildlife walk with Aricel and the night time nature walk. Kids loved seeing all the wildlife up close right on hotel property - sloths, birds, iguanas, monkeys etc ... Some people mentioned the price being high in earlier reviews - true the rate is higher BUT happy to pay it. We may make this our family holiday spot for the next few years since we loved it so much. Thanks to everyone at ADM - we had a fantastic time last week.

Room Tip: 503A was really good for our family - this one was a suite with 2 baths.
