“Kelvins house felt like home- but with monkeys, coatis and toucans as neighbours.”
Melvin and his wife are lovely, lovely people. The house is great, the critters that stroll through the grounds in the early morning are wonderfully exotic and the location, right next to the National Park, is perfect. Melvin is also a registered guide, so be sure to book at least one day with him, you won't regret it! He has lived in the area all of his life and it is his backyard.
Beware of the roads in Monteverde, though. You'll need a 4-wheel drive vehicle as the roads are hard packed earth with boulders and pot holes aplenty!
