The Best of Montezuma! I typically don't do reviews but I had to take the time to give Ype at Jodokus Inn in Montezuma, Costa Rica. Ype was very considerate to set up a taxi to meet me and my girlfriends at the Tambor airport. It is not part of his service but was very delighted to do so. We booked a room with two queen size bed. The room was very spacious with a big bathroom. Over looking a lush of garden and ocean view. The property is hugh and if you venture towards the ocean, you'll see white face monkeys. Ype has a fully equipped kitchen. He doesn't cook but will have prepared food in your personal fridge to cook every morning. He has a washer and dryer as a plus to use. I will definitely recommend this place!
We stayed at Jodokus inn for 2 nights. The best thing about this guesthouse is the owner. I have never met such a nice hotel owner before. He is so kind and the only thing he thinks about is the comfort of guests. The garden is beautiful and peacefull. There is a full equipted kitchen where u can prepare your food. He told us to feel free to use every thing we wanted even washing machine. The only negative thing i have to say about this place is location but only for people that dose not have car. Actually we planned to stay 6 nights but we did not have a car. The hotel is located 45 minutes walking uphill or a taxiride 10 minutes and costs 10 USD. But if you have a car you should definitely stay here. He offered us as well free ride to city, and free ride to Malpais as well !!! The shower is perfect with hot water and breakfast as well very nice. Thank u Ype that you made our stay comfortable.
We spent 2 nights in a room in Josokus Inn which is located 10 minutes from the centre of Montezuma by car. We can fully recommend this BnB! We travelled with our little daughter and regard the place as absolutely family friendly. It is almost a park hidden in the hills with a great view over the coastline und the sea. The rooms and kitchen are clean (and here I mean clean as really clean, like you can expect it from far more expensive hotels!). In the garden we were allowed to pick fresh Grapefruit from a tree and in general, the host was really freindly and helpful. In our opinion, this is the far better option compared to more expensive and noisy hotels in the centre of Montezuma. The price is fully justified, the facilities we were able to use were abundant: A professionally equipped large kitchen, laundry facilities, swimming pool, parking space, etc. The rooms are not huge but nicely furnished and absolutely clean, the bathroom is big though. There is no AC available in the rooms but if the windows (protected by well-working moskito nets) are open, a nice cool air current cools down the room in the evening in no time..
To make a long story short: the best location so far on our trip through Costa Rica!
we had a great time in the guest house. the owner is been super kind and really helpful taking us where we needed!the place is very peacefull, sourronded by nature, there are a lot of fruit trees in the garden and you can pick a fruit or some lemon leaves to make tea in the evening while relaxing watching the sky full of stars! the room are big and clean and the shower amazing! this place is the top,we really raccomanded it!!
We stayed at the Jodokus Inn November 8-10, 2016. We really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the wonderful views. There were four in our party, and all of us were missing our dogs, so we also really enjoyed the fact that there were rescue dogs on the property. The Inn is located a short distance from Montezuma which was nice. The road can be a bit of an adventure, but well worth it!
My husband, myself & two friends enjoyed our stay at Jodokus Inn very much. Ype-Claas was very friendly and was a wonderful host. The Inn is very private & safe but not far from the busy little town & its gorgeous beaches. The kitchen was well equipped and very clean. The bedrooms were roomy with comfortable beds & pillows. The views from the upstairs (where all the bedrooms were) was beautiful. The grounds were well kept & Ype welcomed us to pick any of the many different fruits available on his trees. We took advantage of the pool on the property as it was formed from a natural cold spring & we found it very refreshing.
A little hard to find, but well worth the effort. Ype Bolman is the consummate host to the best part of your vacation in Montezuma. Ype has built a beautiful home amongst perfectly manicured grounds filled with flowers and fruit trees. You will stay on the second floor, which is very private, fully screened and open to the breeze. We had a wonderful time and wished we could have stayed longer. Do pay a visit if you love animals because Ype volunteers with a community association that rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes injured and neglected street dogs and cats. Please save a few dollars to contribute to the cause. The man has a heart of gold and you will surely feel it while you are there. We can't say enough about our stay. It was the highlight of our trip. Please note that you will need a car to get to and from his house. I would recommend a 4 wheel drive as the roads up and down are quite steep.
Thanks Ype and hope to see you again soon,
