“Stay Somewhere Else”

This was a horrible experience. It was a closed "hotel" not resort, trying to make a quick buck. They suckered us into an experience that should had been one of the best of our life. Over priced, not 5 star worthy and terrible service - not a warm welcome by any means. Many other places to stay here there that actually will offer you 5 Stars for less money.

  • Liked — Enrique - the tour guide. If not for him, we would had killed ourselves
  • Disliked — Everything - hard beds, rooms not made up according to photo which

Villas Corcovado is an incredibly private, intimate resort spread across a broad hillside in the Costa Rican jungle. The location, along Golfo Dulce, is serene yet filled with exotic wildlife and natural entertainment. We arrived by boat, and were met at the dock by the very warm Argentinian family who run the hotel. Each exclusive villa supplies warmth, privacy, and any amenity you need. While there, we enjoyed snorkeling, dolphin and turtle watching, and an unforgettable trek through the jungle where we encountered rare monkeys, hawks, macaws, crocodiles, herons, and more. Drawbacks include the rather hefty price of guided activities, and the fact that the all-inclusive menu gets pretty old pretty fast. However, if you value a personal touch, solitude, and natural beauty, then this place is for you.

My friends and I bought a package off Luxury Link and very much enjoyed our stay at the Villa Corcovado. We had a wonderful guide named Enrique. He took us on a great hike nearby the property (during which we saw poison dart frogs and white-faced monkeys) and gave us a snorkeling tour.

The staff at Villa Corcovado is very nice...but not as attentive as at some other high-end resorts I have visited. Communication is difficult if you do not speak spanish.

All in all, we had a wonderful time at this beautifully located resort in the middle of unspoiled land. There were only 3 other groups staying there while we visited. So, we had a lot of privacy. But, even if the resort were full, it would still be very private as there are only 8 villas.

One note: Beware of the picnic on the beach activity. We did it and were not too happy when we were left alone far away from the resort with a non-operational walkie-talkie. Plus, the beach we were brought too wasn't that great. We preferred to be sitting near the pool.

  • Liked — The Scenery
  • Disliked — The difficulty of communicating with staff

My wife and I spent 3 days at Villa Corcovado(----)during our honeymoon in Costa Rica and we had the best possible time.

To reach this resort you first need to take a private boat, something that the resort organized for us. With a bit of luck you might even see dolphins while crossing the Gulfo Dulce!

Upon arrival, we were treated with drinks and a very personalised service. The resort can only accomodate 30+ guests so if you are looking for privacy this is the ideal place. The rooms are also internet and TV free, so make sure to have your favourite book with you.

The resort is also located in the middle of the Jungle so if you are looking for a true eco-tourism experience in a luxury environment you've found your heaven. Our guide and host, Lenin, provided us with an exceptional service. We ended up touring the jungle at night, visiting a chocolate farm and exploring an animal rehabilitation center in a 'Robinson Crusoe' environment - the most amazing experience of our honeymoon - I don't know any other place where you will have the opportunity to play with spider monkeys for 2 hours in an open environment !!

All-in-all, from the food to the service and eco-tours, Villa Corcovado is a little paradise on earth that hopefully will remain small and surrounded by unspoiled land.
