I love this place. Sure, I saw more wildlife staying there than anywhere else in Costa Rica, I woke up in a beautiful tent staring at the ocean, and had three meals included daily, but the important thing is the people; the bartenders, the cooks, the staff, and the owner. It is refreshing to talk with a family that has been in the area for almost a hundred years now. The drinks are poured generously, along with everything else.
That being said, it is a little tough to get out here. The collectivo can be rough sometimes, but the road is not that bad. Also, there is not much to do except hike. The surfing ok, but the not the best (you can ignore the rip current warnings). I think this is a good thing as it keeps the up tight gringos at bay.
The tents are not for modest people. They don't really shut that well, but we were up front so there was a good breeze and surprisingly very little bugs.
The prices keep going up, but a great stay nonetheless.

We certainly thought it was worth the climb up to the monkey camp! Greater chance of seeing wildlife - one morning there was coati in tree right outside our tent. Paul is a great chef (we didn't find out until our last night he's actually a celebrity/TV chef in Costa Rica - he can play guitar & sing too); Carlos is a great barman (his caipirinhas, with the slightly orangey local limes, are to die for); Danilo is a great guide (what amazing eyesight! Day & night!) and Felipe the manager really went out of his way to look after us. The walk along the beach, from the nearest car park, is part of the fun - as is the drive from the nearest town. Remember to take your own torch, as the staff's are always in great demand. Definitely worth doing guided tours (day & night) even if you then set off on your own. Sadly, we never did see a puma, although several others did whilst we were there. The anteater (plus lots of other creatures) more than helped make up for our disappointment.

Room Tip: We loved the Monkey Camp but others preferred to be lower down, nearer the restaurant & bar

We arrived after a painful battle with the p**ck that operates the last parking lot and "convenience store" before one takes off for the 1-2 km walk down the beach. He is a colossal jerk and a drunk to boot.

Now to the important part: La Leona Tent Camp is set not a hundred feet from the crashing waves of the Pacific. The tents are new, clean and the one in which we stayed, had an amazing private shower and toilet. Behind/adjacent to the tent is a river stone laid floor with a shower head suspended from a "blended in" pipe. Privacy is insured by an 8 foot tent wall around the toilet/shower area but without a roof. So, you can shower before bed taking in the beautiful star scape above your head while listening to the surf. It just doesn't get any better.
The beds consist of mattresses placed on cot frames above the floor. There is a small "veranda" outside the tent on which you can sit in your Adirondack-style chair to take the ocean view in.
Food is served at long picnic tables by pleasant and polite servers. Everyone eats the same meal which is adequate and appeals to most palates.
If you get a chance, the atmosphere, view and experience is one that you cannot and will not experience ANYWHERE else.

Room Tip: ask for an ocean front tent with private failities

Great location with nice ocean view. Secluded and close to Corcovado National park. Amazing food. Would recommend staying in the ocean view tents with attached bathrooms. Avoid the monkey tent camps as they are little far from the mainb lodge. Good jungle tours with experienced guides.

I had been to Corcovado Tent Camp in the past so I knew what to expect. This is not a luxury resort and does not profess to be. Nevertheless, it is impeccably run and provides an unforgettable experience of the rainforest without the intrusion of extra amenities such as hot water. It was exactly what I expected and wanted. I hasten to add that the food was excellent and abundant. The staff could not be more responsive and helpful. You must enlist the services of the guide if you want to notice the wildlife slipping unnoticed around you. It really is a quite lovely place patronized by people of various nationalities. You will have an experience of being in a remote location.

Room Tip: We purposely booked on the front row of the tents so that we would be directly facing the ocean. Fr...

Getting to La leona tent camp is not easy - more than two hours by the collectivo truck on a bumpy road and additional 30 minutes walk on the beach, but once you arrive, you're in heaven!! You can relax on the beautiful veranda of the very comfortable tent, take day walks within the camp's walking trails or use it as a base for day hikes in the Corcovado park. The tents and their sorrounding are magical, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is excellent!! Within the 48 hours we spent there was saw more animals than in our whole tour in Costa Rica!!

The walk up the beach in torrential rain was SO worth it! We loved this place from the moment we arrived and Phillipe placed a welcoming drink in our hands. Our tent was fantastic with a private, yet open-air bathroom out back. Gorgeous beach, jungle surf crashing a constant wonderful soundscape with exotic birds and monkeys adding their bit. Beds comfortable. It was SO humid when we were there (November) but you can completely open you tent to the breeze during the day, and the screens still keep your belongings safe from curious jungle critters. Saw spider monkeys just up from the main camp, and Cappuchin monkeys in the trees all around camp. Guided tour into the national park is a great idea as there are all kinds of things to learn in there. Jungle guide bought a Boa Constrictor into the dining room the first night we were there! It was wound around his arm! He found it out near the camp and bought it in for us all to see... AMAZING! Great place. Meals large and, Excellent, and chef a really neat friendly guy. Don't hesitate! Great memories made here!

Room Tip: We were in the triple tent... a fantastic tent with awesome view of the ocean through the coconut tr...
