During our 10 day stay in Puerto Jimenez, we decided to visit La Leona Eco Lodge for 2 nights. What a great experience for us. The location was absolutely beautiful. Staying in the ocean view tent cabins without electricity was also a first. Loved the outdoor shower!
We went on the 6 hour nature walk with a guide in the Corcavado Nature park. Definitely too long for me! It was more of a forced hike than a nature walk. Would have preferred a shorter nature walk to enjoy the scenery and wildlife.
Relaxing in the hammocks following the hike was wonderful. Also the meals were excellent! Our compliments to the kitchen and service staff.

Room Tip: Nice breeze from Pacific Ocean for the tent cabins facing the ocean.

Spent 4 four nights in the area 3 in our fantastic ocean view tent cabin and one night in Corcavado at SIrena. La Leons was fabulas, the tent cabin was perfect, the beds were comfortable and the private outdoor shower with a coconut head shower head was wonderful. I've only been back for a week and dream of it already! From walking the 1.8 miles to the lodge and seeing our luggage coming up the beach in the cart pulled by the horse was somehow one of the best experiences Ive ever had, it just felt right! We arrived with Ronnie making us a very good very cold ice tea to welcome us, he exlained everything to us and showed us to our cabin. The grounds were perfect and the staff had taken care (in advance) of our permit into Corcavado- spending a night in the dorm and arranging a guide for us. Donaello was our guide and was outstanding - we saw Cotai's, Tapirs, Peccaries, Racoons, Macaw, pink snake, Crocadiles, White faced monkey, Howler monkey, Spider monkey, many hawk, and other birds, butterflies moths and spiders, beatles etc. Went into a bat cave, helped collect whale bones for reconstruction by Doneallo. The best experience ever! One night after dinner we were sitting on our cabin porch while having a glass of wine Adrian came running up (on another beautiful candle llite night) telling us there was a Tapir at the resturant! Outstanding a must experience La Leona once in your life -you'll not be disapointed:)

Room Tip: Choose ocean view tent cabin best view and your choice of hammocks!

Having just returned from a fantastic holiday in Costa Rica including a 4 night stay at le Leona we can only say what a wonderful and amazing place this is. Adrian and his team looked after us incredibly well with a relaxed and happy approach. This place gives you the chance to experience nature closely and the chance to relax with no wifi or electric in your tents. Laze on the hammocks and enjoy the sounds of the sea, birds and jungle and a cold beer. Bliss.

Room Tip: Ocean view tent if possible

We stayed three nights at the La Leona Eco-Lodge in December 2013. The location is incredible with the beautiful waves of the Pacific at our doorstep and surrounded by the rainforests of the Corcovado National Park. What makes La Leona particularly attractive is its remote location: it’s only accessible by a more than 2-km walk along a deserted stretch of Pacific Coast. The cabins are cozy with amazing views of the ocean and the rainforest; the attached outdoor showers are adorable! Adrian and his team made our stay very pleasant and the vegetarian food they prepared for us was excellent. Walks along trails both in the property and the neighboring Corcovado National Park were enchanting and teeming with wildlife. We saw capuchin and spider monkeys, anteaters, dart frogs, scarlet macaws, toucan, caracara, pelicans, and many other species. The highlight of our stay was the midnight visit from a tapir that decided to feast on the lodge’s banana crop.

Room Tip: We stayed in an oceanfront cabin, but all the cabins appear charming.

To kick this review off I’ll give a bit of background information. In December 2013 we traveled to Costa Rica on a two week whirlwind journey. We went in on a budget and decided early on that we would rather spending our cash on experiences and food rather than accommodations.

The La Leona Eco-Lodge is gorgeous and provides visitors with a glamping experience like they probably have never seen it before. On top of that the staff was wonderfully accommodating and attentive.

Our tent was very quaint, consisting of two twin-sized beds and a separate, fenced-in bathroom out back. The tents were very clean but seemed a bit rundown in terms of the actual structure. The stay at La Leona Eco-Lodge is not for those on a budget but if you’re willing to spend $110-140 a day per person (meals included) its a slice of paradise!

In the end, I think this place is beautiful and makes the most sense from a cash flow standpoint for folks traveling alone or who aren’t on a tight budget.

Pros:
- Gorgeous location and sense of serenity due to remote location
- Wonderfully attentive and accommodating staff
- Three meals per day (nothing fancy but all high quality)

Cons:
- Price point seems a bit steep for what you actually get in terms of accommodation and food
- Corners seem to have been cut in the construction of the tents
- Remote location makes it potentially difficult to leave in case of medical emergency or last minute change of plans

This place is about an hours walk along the beach but well worth it when you get there!! No electricity in the tents but we did have our own outside shower and toilet, albeit no hot water either but quite refreshing in the morning. Lovely to sit out on the verandah and watch the birds feeding in the trees. Walks into Corcovado National park are run from the hotel, well worth venturing into. Staff were very attentive, very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, food was very good and they cater to your taste (me being a non red meat eater). No need to take fancy clothes and "dress for dinner". We would definately stay here again.

Where should I begin. After our drive over the Osa Peninsula, we've ended up at Carate beach. The Macaws welcomed us and the view was stunning! From there we first had to wait for the Horse and carriage to arrive before we could start our walk without the luggage ;)

Once we were at the camp, the very friendly staff welcomed us with a fresh smoothie! The gave us the needed information and showed us the tent. Again, WAUW! The tent looked great and the outside bathroom was so beautiful! We had a first row ocean view tent, and it was VERY worth it! Waking up in the morning just seeing the ocean and the palmtrees made us very happy people :)

The food the staff cooks was excellent, we couldn't believe they could cook this good food with this little resources around. The day we've arrived we didn't had any lunch and lunchtime at La Leona was over, but they did manage to give us some fresh fruit.

When we were there we did some (morning)walks on our own, and did the full day hike with the La Leona guide. We can definitely recommend this walk. The guides at La Leona know so much about the environment and animals there, and they spot even more than you do yourselves. The nature at La Leona is spectacular and this was our number 1 spot in Costa Rica!!

Thanks guys for the good service, we really enjoyed it! (and the pipa ;) )
